My doctor recently suggested that I might want to try buspar for a few months. Like most of you, I am hesitant to try medication. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Coco

Hi Coco:

I can't give you a first hand experience but my dearest friend in the world also battles anxiety. She took BuSpar for 8 months (one year ago) and it really helped "take the edge" off of her anxiety as well as helped her feel "normal" for the first time in many years of tremendous stress. She is now off of the medication but felt it was helpful to "get her out of the ditch" of anxiety/depression she was in. She is really doing well now and she saw the medication as a helping hand until things calmed down enough for her to deal with the bigger issues. Also, she took the very smallest dose and only at night - none in the morning or it would make her too sleepy during the day. I hope this helps and keep up with the program ! It really helps !!

Hi COCO,
Have you tried the Buspar yet?
My Doctor gave me a subscription for it at the lowest dose (3xday),, but i am still apprehensive about taking it.
Actually, i have been working very hard on my coping skills and am finally covering some ground!!
I may not need the Buspar at all, but in the event i trip and fall i like to think as the Buspar as an alternative/option.

I am wondering if you have had many or any side effects, what is your experience, etc.

Thanx,
Sundee

I have been taking BuSpar for 3 weeks and I have definitely noticed a difference. Although I still worry a lot with each passing day it seems to lessen. I still feel tense especially in my back and neck muscles and I still find myself worrying about things I can't control. It is so much better than how it was just a month ago. Back then I didn't know how I was going to get through the day.

I have not had any side effects other than being just a little tired but I'm not sure that doesn't come from the anxiety. When the doctor told me it would take two to four weeks to work that made upset me but the results have been worth the wait. I didn't notice anything until about two weeks in. Hopefully with each passing day I will improve.

If your worrying is controlling your life this may be a great help. Good luck to you

Hi everyone, I'm on the program since the end of November. I was put on Buspar in September and it only to a little of the edge off. My psychiatrist says with some people it doesn't have enough kick to it I was weaned off it and put on zoloft once a day and I felt the difference right away. My coping skills were working but it seemed I really had to work much harder. I'm just finishing Lesson 4 and I am doing much better. I really didn't want to take any meds but we shouldn't feel embarrassed right. Its only going to help us a little more. I do hope to be off it soon and I think this program is great I only wish I had found it in September when my dad got sick. Good Luck
