I really dont care what coffee drinkers say about coffee, nor do I care about what some doctors say about coffee. The bottom line is this, any drug that can give you tremendous headaches when you withdraw has got to be bad for you.
Imagine the world if coffee, alcohol and all drugs just some how became ineffective. Sounds silly but if you ponder this you would really have some serious insight. What would people do with there time. The ones that self medicate with the "legal" drugs would all of a sudden become obviously anxious persons.
I can say from personal experience that coffee does more than just speed up the nervous system. My father was a research engineer with a major petroleum maunfacurer and he did a test on coffee one day.
They took a cup of coffe and ran it through a mass sprectromograph. Thats a machine that identifies all the elements in a sample.
He tells me they found things like formaldahyde, acids, toxins and things you wouldnt dream of ingesting.
Coffee is just another money maker. The industry knows we can be stronly hooked on it just like you can with cocaine or illegal drugs. Why our country on one hand allows us to harm ourselves with this stuff and on the other hand has laws against harming yourself is hypocritical.
Do yourself a favor, quit. If you are anxious, this stuff is the poison that is feeding the fire.
Try moving to mild tea, then to decaf. Even moving to tea will prove that there are effects that you get from coffee that are not good.
When you can clean yourself from all the addicting substances that cause you harm, eat right and exercise, you will be amazed at how well your mind functions.
I'm still working on all of this but I can testify that it does work!
Good luck to all of you.

I loved what you said about the coffee. If we knew what a lot of things that we eat had in them we probably wouldn't eat anything! ha ha I have been off the caffine for a year now. I feel a lot better. I went through awful withdrawl when I stopped thought. Anybody out there listening, DON'T STOP COLD TURKEY. I did and nearly passed out at work. My co-workers made me drink a coke and I felt better. I had to wean myself off but I never dreamed that caffine could do that to you. I drink nothing but water and diet 7-up now. If I could just kick the chocolate and sugar habit, I'd be doing good.

You are completely correct in your statements and I can genuinely appreciate your taste for humor. :-)
One thing I think you fail to realize is this"

If you were to quit the coffee, quit all the unnecessary stimulus and uneeded chemicals and calories, what would your body and mind be like.

I would venture to say that without, you'd feel much better.

That was my point.

Have a great day.

Believe me, I'm no doctor and I've got my own issues to deal with, but I can tell you that caffiene is an anti-depressant of sorts. Perhaps you are in a way, self medicating.
If I'm incorrect in this I hope someone will correct me.
Try surfing the net and look up the effects of caffiene.

Regards,

DL

I find there is a fine line between addiction and just enjoying something. When I feel I NEED something in my life to the point where I cannot go without it to be happy or that I cannot give it up no matter how I try... then I figure I'm addicted to it. Sometimes I even try to resist it when it is available just to see if I am controling my urge - or is my urge controling me. Anyhoo - there are a lot of things in my life I enjoy and would miss if I had to do without them. Are they addictions or simple pleasures? Don't know. Don't care. I make my choices and take responsibility for the consequences.
