Would my reg doctor need to refer me to an endocrinologist for this type of testing? To determine if I definitely might have a chemical imbalance that is making me feel awful at times and sad? I'd rather have this done first to see if I needed any meds or even for a short term or maybe have a vitamin deficiency, rather than just go get a prescription filled w/o knowing if I had something organically wrong.
Any helpful advice is very welcome? ~Amy |

Hi Amy, my doctor did bloodwork plus I saw a neurologist and had some testing done like a CAT scan and and EEG as I was having severe migranes with numbness and loss of vison along with panic attacks , I also saw a cardiologist for my mitro valve prolapse just to make sure nothing else was wrong in that area, when everything came back negative my diagnosis of anxiety with secondary depression was made. Oh yeah I was also referred to my GYN to make sure nothing hormonally was going on with me. ( I am only 35) I would be wary of any doctor that just wants to prescribe an anti depressant etc.
