2 months is not a long time to take an antianxiety medication. How much are you taking? Not everyone has withdrawal symptoms. Go slow and see how it goes. I took Xanax for a few months and did not experience any painful withdrawal when I was ready to stop taking it. I felt I was ready - which probably makes a big difference. Take it slow. Why have you decided to get off the Xanax at this time?

If you taper slowly than you should be fine. 2 months ins't bad and if it wasn't more than 4 mg a day than the risk is low for addiction. Always though do this with your Dr., Psychiatrist preferabbly. They specialize in exactly this.

THANKS FOR RESPONDING, I KNOW THIS SOUNDS CRAZY BUT THE ONLY REASON I AM TRYING TO COME OFF IS THE FEAR OF ADDICTION.THEY ARE HELPING ,I AM PRESCRIBED 0.25 mg. TO TAKE UP TO FOUR TIMES A DAY, BUT IF I TAKE MORE THAN TWO A DAY I FEAL BAD FOR TAKING SO MUCH.I HEAR SO MANY NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUY XANNAX AND WITHDRAWL SMPTOMS,THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT MAYBE I SHOULDNT RUSH MYSELF.

I TOTALLY understand. I only hindered myself by not taking it when it helped me immensely. I have an excellent psychiatrist who monitors me very closely. I did research myself...and... he showed me his medical books as well. (because I asked a hundred questions about it) The risk of addiction (as studied) is over 4mg a day so you're fine. It's mostly our fear of it that causes us more grief. Now 4mg sounds like quite a bit doesnt' it and I know some may disagree but I FINALLY started listening only to the professionals. Most people mean well to help but we dont' know their background, if they take their meds properly, if they have been addicted to other things before, etc so...........just be sure to get the FACTS, not just opinions. Of course here I am giving you advice but I'm in your shoes. And you are fine taking what you have. And take it if you need sweetie, it is only a part of the whole pie of all our tools and it when you take it, you are sooooooooooooo glad you have it available. good luck.
