My husband just started it today and I know nothing about it. I guess I will do a search but just thought i'd ask you all first. Is it addictive? Are there withdrawals?
Thanks, Reena

Hey Beener,
Wellbutrin is Effexor. They just gave it a different name and use it for a different purpose. Is your husband trying to quit smoking? I'm not going to list the side effects. THere was too many of them and I didn't want to sound like a downer! lol I'm sure you got that info with the drug anyway. The company that makes it says it's not addictive but yes, there are withdrawals associated with it. You have to wean off of it like the SSRIs. Interestingly, this is not one of the SSRIs. It's got a completely different makeup.

Doylie takes this drug. Maybe she'll make an appearance for ya! Smiler

Reena~

A friend of mine is taking Wellbutrin. He was on Zoloft and loved it but....the sexual side effects were a downer(no pun intended Wink ) so his doctor switched him to Wellbutrin(as not supposed to effect the libido!). It is an anti-depressant that is listed for OCD ns PTSD but I guess it is used for more then that. It is in a class of medication different then SSRI's and Tryciclic anti-depressants. You can check out medicinenet.com for more info. And yes, as Craw said, there are side effects when starting and withdrawals when stopping, just like any other medication.

Take care-Silvana

THanks for the info. I will check out that website. Apparently, it has sexual side effects but not the downer kind. I hope it isnt too viagra like because my libido certainly wont match his. Hey, maybe I should take that stuff! LOL! THanks again. Smiler

Wellubtrin is not effexor, it is Zyban the pill to stop smoking. wellbutin and zyban are the same meds used for to different things. you have them confused.
