Please, help! I was experiencing severe anxiety last week and in an attempt to feel better quickly the only dr. that would help me quickly was my gynocologist...sounds crazy but I trust him and have been experiencing more severe PMS symptoms. He prescribed Sarafem (prozac active ingredient). I also followed up with my regular MD and he said that it would help with my anxiety. My question is, will this medication help my anxiety? In the reading that I have been doing it sounds like there are better ones out there. Fortunately, I have an appointment with a therapist and MD who specializes in behavioral medicine next week. But that's next week...not what will get me through tonight. Please help....

If your anxiety is PMS related then Sarafem is made specifically for this. Trust your doctors and give it a try. If you don't find relief within 6 weeks on a regular dosage then consult with your doctor again.

I encourage you to do your own research and give a few different things a try. It could be that this method of treatment is just not for you.
Since we are all different, we benefit from different things.

Be kind to yourself by being opened minded and finding what works for you.

There are also natural alternatives to hormone imbalance as well as chemical imbalance. If you are interested in taking a more natural approach, there are many here who have gone this direction and it's worked for them.

Wishing you the best as you find a method that works best for you! Smiler
