Hi Felix:

I take Paxil CR but have also taken Paxil. Don't be afraid to take it. I was too in your shoes. I had a hard time starting it but after I did and starting feeling better, I told myself "You made a big deal over nothing". I know that our minds are trained (because of the anxiety) to be afraid of what is maybe new to us but that is what we have to work on---breaking that bad habit. I think that with the help of the MWC program and the medication, you will be fine. One piece of advise, give the Paxil some time to take effect and be patient. Good luck to you! My prayers are with you!

I can so relate Felix! I'm not on Paxil, but I am on prozac (generic version anyway). I was SO scared to try any meds at all. didn't know what to expect, but didn't want to feel loopy, didn't want the stigma, on and on and on.

I finally got so bad (this was 3 yrs ago, long before I found MWC and this program) that hubby asked me to please stop taking the herbal stuff (for some reason herbs were OK - boy was I wrong!!) and see the dr. and get on something! Well, I finally did it and started on the prozac in the AM. It made me terribly drowsy in the morning at first so I switched to taking it before bed. Then, a couple weeks into taking it, I switched back to taking it in the morning since it was starting to keep me awake. That was the worst side effect of it.

The best effect - I started feeling NORMAL again. It was GREAT! I couldn't believe it took me so long to get up the nerve to get on meds.

My advice is give it a try. If this one doesn't work for you, try another one until you find one that does work. You will be SO glad when you start feeling good again!

I hope this helps you some. Good luck!! Smiler

I was on paxil for a while and at first it did make me nauseous. Just make sure you take it with a meal, preferably a heavy meal, like at dinner time. Once I got over the nausea, it helped with my anxiety tremendously. Good luck!

Hey guys,
I'm in the same boat. I am about to take PaxilCR but I don't know whether to take that or Prozac. Back years ago I took regular PAXIL and I gained weight and there were sexual side effects but I don't remember anything bad. I was on prozac for a short while but don't remember how much it helped so I am taking no chances and going with PaxilCR I want it for anxiety but also for Obsessive thinking and nerves from that. Does it work for that? I'm sure it does but what does anyone else think? I heard PaxilCR is toned down side effects and has less than PAXIL. Does anyone gain weight on PaxilCR? The Program states that Prozac helps greatly with obsessive thinking. Is that true. Any help on these subjects is greatly appreciated.
thanks

Hi! I take Paxil CR and did experience some weight gain, but it really helps me. The regular paxil is NOT recommended for anyone under the age of 18, I did take that for awhile but didn't have nausea. Just take your doc's advice and be patient! :-) good luck!
