I know that we are not suppose to skip around or skip a lesson. I listened to lesson 11 and just was like OK??????
I am on Zoloft and Klonopin. I know I will eventually wean (yes slowly WEAN) off my meds, one at a time. I also never have used alcohol or anything illegal to self medicate. I guess I feel let down by this lesson, just could not find "meaning" in it for me. It would have been helpful in the begining for those that were too anxious to do the program, a med can help you function and focus to do the program. I am just wondering if I have missed something in this lesson? I would rather go on to the next lesson and get something out of it. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks much! This is just my opinion, if you already went through the program before and you just are doing it again or review I dont thing there is anything wrong with skipping as long you already know about it...
When I went through workbook I kind of went through some lesson really fast because it is something I am already familiar with... I just dont know if you already did the program before. LizB,
I totally skipped this. I mean, I read it and went through the motions but whatever. I'm educated and have no additions. I don't drink.I know what's out there and know too much about meds,so.......oy... I took a week off. People who do deal with this must have such a hard time. Anxiety is hard enough without peeling away the covers of an addiction. I can only imagine the pain of self medicating. And I totally agree that this info might be helpful to some earlier on, but scary for people already afraid of the meds they may need. I say, pat yourself on the back for coming this far-thank Jesus you don't have this problem and go eat some ice cream!!! Kristen |

BP & Kristen,
Thanks so much for your replies. Ice cream Kristen? Really? I am glad I do not self medicate or misuse my meds, so I will definately hit lesson 12. I really appreciate your inputs. Hey there,
I felt the exact same thing. I've been on and off meds since I was little (not the best thing to do to your child's brain chemistry, by the way) so I definitely know my way around anti-anxiety drugs. I've been on at least 7 different kinds, have weaned myself off several, and have had to tell my psychiatrist which was best for me cause she obviously wasn't getting it. So what I'm doing for this week is just listening to the tape once, which I did on Monday. I'm going to go through the workbook as usual, but I think this week will be more of a review of the past lessons for me. More time to practice those skills, I guess. Good luck with your meds! -gwoman |

I know this has been brought up by others, but i will be heading into Lesson 11 soon and I am curious. I drink very little (none at the moment since my husband and I gave up alcohol for Lent) and very little at other times, so I don't see it as a problem. I'm also off all medications and don't think I'll be going back on any time soon. Those of you who have been through this lesson is there any reason I couldn't skip it?

Celeste,
I would say if you do not used alcohol or illegal substances to self medicate, you can skip it. I did listen to it twice and found not value for me to continue with it. Warm wishes, LizB "Afterall, everybody only hears what he understands." by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe |
