My psychiatrist upped my mg's to 100 to "speed up" the process. I am feeling better and have more energy than a week or two ago, though I still struggle at various times.
I don't seem to have many side effects from Zoloft, but I think it's affecting my sleep pattern. I know it can be a side effect, but I have always been able to sleep throughout the night. Now I wake up once or twice and sometimes can't fall back to sleep right away. I'm waking up for no reason or to any noise, like my husband's snoring I will wake up before my alarm goes off too which annoys me because I really need the sleep. Sometimes I will feel anxious and my mind will start racing so it's prevents me from falling back to sleep right away. I take a Xanex before I go to bed, so sometimes that helps with the anxiety. Anyone else experience sleep problems? |

Zoloft makes me drowsy all day, I am currently on 300 mg (high dose) because I am trying to take less valium for my anxiety.
You should talk to your doctor, and tell him/her about the sleep problems. I know I cannot function properly if I have not slept enough. |

bika,
i was on zoloft recently. i took it for a month and a half. i was on 25mg to start, and it made me so shaky and nervous inside, so i cut it in half, still felt like i was coming out of my skin. and at night, was having horrid night mares. maybe i just didnt take it long enough, but i stopped taking it. Felt wonderful for 3 weeks and now back where i started, so talk to you doctor before you stop or cut back. i know my doctor is going to be furious with me, but i couldnt handle the side effects |

I'm seeing my psychiatrist next week to discuss this. I dropped the mg's to 75 for a week but started to feel "low" again so I'm up to 100 again til I see her, plus I feel better. The shakes are still there, but not as much. I upped my mg's to .50 for the Xanax and that seems to help the shakes. So I think it may be the anxiety causing it. I don't know, we'll see.
Thanks! |

Nervous Nelly, I had the same experience as you with Zoloft at the same doses. I have general anxiety and zoloft caused actual panic attacks and made me feel like my blood was going to boil I was so shakey, speedy and nervous. It sure did give me energy though - until the lack of sleep killed me. As a matter of fact all SSRI's seem to do that to me. Which is why I am really hoping this program works for me. I am on week 5 and so far I have noticed improvement. I still have more brain fatigue than I would like -but hope it will improve as I work on the anxiety.

I also had the same problem with zoloft........tremors.......shaking, .....feeling like I would jump out of my skin. It was worse than a panic attack, because at least I knew the PA would eventually end..........with the zoloft side effects I didn't know how long they would last. Consequently I'm afraid to try any other meds. I do take xanax 0.25 mg on rare occassion. I try to work thru the anxiety, and as we all know, that is easier said than done. It's a daily struggle. I've been thru the program once. Am going thru it a second time. Having a major ''growth spurt''. I'm doing ok ''warding off'' the PA's, but these body symptoms are exhausting, I tell you. I did really well for a good year after I completed the program. Then I lost my mom to cancer, (I took care of her), and my Dad is ill now. The amazing thing is.........i do WELL during period of stress when I'm so busy caring someone else. Things quiet down.......and that's when the darn anxiety creeps back in....anticipatory anxiety keeps hitting me like a ton of bricks. I'm 53 years old and MAD at myself for being able to live perfectly fine for 50 years ........and then to have this kind of ''crapola'' (for lack of a better
word ;-) .......), hit me. I'm wishing my anger at myself would take over......because I know I should be greatful for a lot of other things..... married for 32 years, 2 wonderful children, 2 wonderful grandchildren, etc. Phew! off my venting soapbox now. |

darlene,
Please dont feel bad and dont beat yourself up for having panic attacks. Ive had them 30yrs and when they started, didnt have a clue what they were and most docs, didnt either. So i went without anything or help or meds for years. You caught it early, and i beleive with many that helps, you have the program , use it, work it , i beleive you will be able to be free from them. i do take xanax small dose one in the morning, one before bed, but i want to be free of all meds, and this dumb anxiety, i want my life back and am willing to fight for it, whatever it takes. God Bless ya |

i AM CURRENTLY ON 250 OF ZOLOFT, dropped from 300 because of diarhea, but my stomach is still bugging out, so I am going to see my psychiatrist tonight, and hopefully figure out a soluiton.
Is it the meds, or my IBS? Is it both? Angry and upset that if I am not feeling physically well, then I am sad or anxious, but usually both at the same time. Of course every time I get emotional, my stomach reacts, and it is a vicious cycle. I am sick of this, need meds to function, but all of them have side effects. been going through this for years. (FEELING SORRY FOR MYSLEF). I just want to fix what is worng with me, so I can function normally at school and work, and I am going on a trip to europe in april but don't want to go there feeling sick b/c we will be touring and walking around all day. My moods/health problems rule my life, I try not to let it get to me, but when it persists the way this has...I GET SAD, ANGRY, WORN OUT. DEPRESSED! |
