Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone has taken or is currently taking Paxil CR. I have been taking it for about 4-5 months. I started with 12.5mg then to 25mg and just yesterday started 37.5mg. Any feedback? Thanks, would appreciate. -uknee33 |

uknee 33,
I took Paxil CR 12.5 mg for about 8 months. Personally I still felt anxious while I took it. I might have needed a higher dosage or a different medication, but for some people it can work. The medication may be working for you and taking it while doing the program might be a great help for you. tita1 |

tita1,
Just curious, where in California are you? Thanks for the reply. Are you still taking any meds? -uknee33 |

I took Paxil CR for seven months. I think it helped me, but I really didn't like the side effects. What was worse was trying to wean myself off of it. Scary Stuff!!! I was only taking the 25mg, then cut down to the 12.5mg until I was off of it.
Doing okay now that I'm off of that AND I completed the Program shortly after getting off of the Paxil. |

Ash,
I remember that when I started taking Paxil CR I did feel a bit hyper. But as your body adjusts to it, it will eventually go away (at least that's what happened with me). I'm currently on 37.5mg and doing just great. If you just started taking it, don't get discouraged keep taking it because your body needs to adjust---just my opinion. If you feel that it isn't working for you then talk to your doctor. For example, Zoloft didn't work for me. Hang in there and good luck! -uknee33 |

I am currently taking Paxil Cr 12.5mgs but I use to take Paxil 20mgs. In my opinion, I was better on the 20 mgs. Although it wasn't extended release, I could function better. But, I have read that in order to see maximum benefits, you need to take a higher dosage. Check with your doctor for more info. Good luck.

i've been leery to go on anything. In march my doc put me on zoloft. on day 4, i was more anxious than i had ever been! (i had already been thru the program, but my mom was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and my doc suggested the zoloft to take the edge off......since i was doing so well, and so i wouldn't have a set back. i was totally against meds, but went along with it, cuz i thought i might actually need it)...............i literally felt like i was going to crawl out of my skin. it was worse than any PA i had ever had. doc had to write a short script for xanax for me, til those effects wore off. she wanted to put my on something else, but i was too freaked out to even try anything. it amazes me how different people react to different meds. and there are so so so so many out there.

I'm currently taking 25mg Paxil CR plus 0.5mg Klonopin once each morning. I've been on it for two months, and on the Attacking Anxiety course for one month (just listened to tape 4 last night for the first time).
I'm very happy with the results. My anxiety, while not eliminated, is about 25% of what it was before. I remember a day 3 months ago when I left work, went home, and spent the whole evening just staring at the floor; that's how depressed I had become. I'm much more positive now, and I credit both the medication and the Attacking Anxiety course. I think the combination of them is what works for me; either the meds or the course alone would have made it tough. I look forward to continued improvement. As far as side effects go, my only complaint is the sexual side effects of the Paxil. To be polite, I'll say I'm still able to function, but only at about 50%. Luckily, my girlfriend is understanding so it isn't a problem; she sees the other changes in me and knows the medication will only be needed temporarily. |

Hi BigJohn,
I'm glad that you are doing much better. I too was like that. I also, as I got home from work had a massive panic attack and for 3 months after that was hell. So I also got the program and was prescribed Paxil CR and Xanax (as needed). It has really turned my life around. I do agree with you about the sexual side effects but I would much rather feel less stressed. Good Luck! -uknee33 |

"Courage does not always roar. Sometimes it is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, 'I will try again tomorrow'." |
I am on day two of Zoloft and let me tell you what!! I am more scared to take this stupid little pill then getting on a plane, or talking infront of 1000 people!!! GRRRRRRRR I have also been given xanex to help me sleep and when needed, but I fear during a PA that I will just be like NO WAY get that stuff away from me, then my wife will ask why? I will yell because it will give me a Panic Attack!! what a fun cycle ! Please let me know if anyone has any bad side effects or anything good to say about zoloft please! thanks!!
