It was seven months ago when I was diagnosed with acute anxiety with obsessive thoughts; it was 5 months ago that I got engaged. Since then, I have not been able to stop worrying about having children. I am on Celexa (now down to 20mg from 40mg) and Wellbutrin (75mg) per day. I am getting married in 3 months and I really want to be able to get off the medicatin so that I can get pregnant. BUT!...What if I can't get off the medication. Has anyone else here had the same worries? Has anyone been on medication during pregnancy?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

I was on paxil and had 2 miscarriages. But the doctors don't know if it had anything to do with it. He suggested I go off paxil and go on Prozac because there were more studies with Prozac and pregnancy that with paxil, and the studies showed no connectionto miscarriages. Well, I had another miscarriage and lost the tube this time. I am not in the process of going off Prozac and I'm gonna try one more time. We'll see what happens.

I want to reiterate that the doctor does not think the drug was the cause. I just want to give it my best shot to have another baby. (I have a super duper 5 year old boy.)

Talk to your doctor about it. He's your best source of information.

I have a friend who takes Paxil and is about 3 months pregnant. She thought that she was supposed to quit taking it but her doctor said not to quit. I guess it will not affect her baby. This is just what she told me but I would check with your doctor. Good Luck! Kids are wonderful! ~Flutterby

Thanks for your replies.
Flutterby - I just spoke with a doctor who specializes in anxiety and treatment, and he advised me that all the studies show that there is no cause to be worried about taking meds and getting pregnant. I don't have to worry about it right now, so I guess I'll re-evaluate when the time comes.
