I have been reading across the OCD section and freaked out that maybe my OCD is turning into schizaphrenia(sp) or psychosis. I wouldn't be bothered by the thoughts if I was schizaphrenic or psychotic would I? Someone please explain the difference.

Alicia, hugs to you.
Nope, you would not be bothered by this and asking this here if you were. You could google each of those, but we OCD'ers are better off not doing that too much. This question has come up on these forums many times and in the same way. We tend to think too much and analyze too much. All part of anxiety. Remember - It's just a thought, not a truth, Just a worrisome thought. An obsessive, scary thought. Nothing more. God bless and hugs to you. |

Alecia,
It IS all a part of anxiety! My mother was diagnosed with paranoid/schizophrenia back when I was just 12. I kow that my anxiety are a result of going through THAT tramatic experience as such a young girl. When my anxieties are at its worse, I FEAR of becoming like my mother. Yeah those "what if" moments. When I went to see my first doctor, she told me that if I was worried about becoming "like that", it was a sure sign I wouldn't become like that! So breath, relax and know it's just a part of our anxiety. I hope this helps. Take care. "I'm not who I think I am and I'm not who YOU think I am, I am who God KNOWS I am" John Hagee |
