I realize we can come up with some pretty weird symptons. I have come a long way with anxiety, but now, mainly when I am going to sleep, or in the middle of the night, I wake up and really have just crazy images in my mind. Also, when I first wake up I feel like I can't move, but I do. I am currently taking an anti-depressant (Remeron) and while it has helped me to get much better, I wonder if it's causing me to do this. Any one had this experience?

Hi,

When I first started taking Prozac, I had similar experiences. I had incredibly vivid dreams that lingered as images when I woke up. I also had that feeling of not being able to move, as sort of disembodied feeling. It was kind of scary, but also kind of cool. These feelings went away after about a month or so along with the spacy feeling I had during the day when I first started the meds.

I've read that vivid dreams are a common side effect of Prozac so maybe that's true for Remeron too. If so maybe they'll go away when your body adjusts. You could ask your Dr. or maybe check WebMD to see what the side effects are for Remeron.

I thought it was kind of cool to have dreams that were just like movies on the big screen, so maybe you could think of your images like movie clips if they scare you.

Good Luck

Toby,

Thanks for your reply. I think losing the FEAR of the images is key in not having them anymore, which is the same as looking at them differently. Thanks.

I had similar side effects with Paxil. I didn't have vivid dreams like that, but a few weeks after I started taking it, I would sometimes see these patterns of colors in my mind when I was trying to go to sleep at night. It didn't scare me because my mom used to take Prozac, and she told me that happened to her. She told me this even before I started taking Paxil so I was prepared. I also thought it was pretty cool too so it didn't scare me. Here's a positive note about this images...that means that the medication is working My mom called it "the re-wiring of the brain", so that could be a comforting thought to know that the medication is working by having these side effects.
