I have been having trouble with scary, obsessive thoughts. I have been to 4 different doctors in the past month and 2 of them believe that I have a sinus infection. I have been trying to take medication to make it go away. I did a full course of antibiotics and the symptoms improved a little but then came back. I started a 2nd course and wasn't able to finish partly because .... the truth is I psyched myself out and became so anxious at the thought of taking the medicine I gave up. Now I have to try again and the thought of it brings me to tears. I am petrified to try it again. I have myself convinced that I will have an allergic reaction and die.
Almost everyday I watch lesson 10 hoping that things will just sink in and that I will be rational enough to start taking the meds. I am also very tired of not feeling well. I'm like a little hamster on the treadmill and I'm having trouble jumping off. Does anyone have any suggestions? |

Dear SillyGal
I have had the same type of thoughts about taking medication, so I know how you feel. The thing you need to keep in mind is that allmost everyone who gets an allergic reaction to medication gets symptoms like hives or swealing. I have never known anybody to die from an allergic reaction. I guess I've heard of it but that was on television and the media loves to play up absolutly everything. They know that fear breeds interest so they try to get people to watch by scaring them into it. They won't give you the full story if it doesn't suit there rating needs. Also, the only way you are going to get over this is to take the medication anyway. I know you wish you could lose your fear of it first, but unfortunatly it doesn't work that way. Also keep in mind that if you weren't allergic to it before, you wouldn't be now either. Don't listen to the people who say that one could develop an allergy at anytime. Do you have any idea how incredably rare that is? Sometimes it happens, but it is extremely unlikely. Remeber, this medication is going to help you feel better and rid yourself of this nasty sinus infection. Your medication is a good thing. Thanks Millie for understanding. For the longest time I didn't have trouble but things have been very stressful lately and I guess that's how it is manifesting itself. I know that taking it is the only way to feel better. Thanks for responding.
