Hi Everyone!!
I'm new to all of this, and having difficulty writing this as I have problems being in a social situation. Plus I'm not real computer literate, and never have been in a forum, hopefuly I'm in the right spot.I'm from central Pa., have had problems with depression since being diagonised in 1994 with fibromylgia. My mother was treated for depression throughout my childhood, but little did I know it's genetic until I listened to Lucenda's 1st tape. I also suffer from anxiety which has gotten worse over the past year. I was injured at work a year ago and haven't been able to return to any type of work to date, struggling to keep my head above water, have lost a companion due to being so overwelmed, not knowing that over thinking, worry, and constant stress were a cause of the anxiety. I've been put on a low dose of xanax but try not to depend on it as I learned it only masks the problem. I'm praying I've found the tools and support that will give me my life back.

Hey Everyone,
This is my first time in group so i am a little nervous. On the subject of fibromyalgia, being a massage student i would recommend anyone who suffers from this condition to seek medical advice to see if regular visits to receive massage therapy treatments to help. There are so many benifits from receiving massage for people who suffer from anxiety, stress and many other conditions.

Thanks rockalise and jenjo for your support!!
Your right about the fibromylgia making your muscles hurt, and it only serves to make the drepression worse for me.
I'm on the first lesson but haven't found it to be very informative did you find the same when you started the program?? I can only relate to a few symptoms of anxiety so I don't know servely I suffer from it , depression is my biggest issue. Do you know what self help books we're to start with???
God Bless you
Jane

Jane, Welcome, i've also been diagnosed by several Drs. with fibromyalgia. I think fibromyalgia is related to all the stress we experience from our negative thought draining tendecies. And because we are so sensitive, we cannot handle all the emotional/painful things like other people can. And so it manifests in our bodies. I have a lot of pain in my muscles which don't help with my depression issues. So i know where your coming from. There was a time i couldn't work either and i know how chronically tiring it is to deal with all this stuff. I feel like i've been treading water too, i know exactly what you mean. Just using every ounce of strength to just get through the day. And that is a good day! I'm praying also that we have found an answer here. I'm doing the program just as they recommend. One session a week, so i'm still on session one. I will start session 2 this sunday. I think if we want this to work, it's not a magic bullet, it's going to require us to be honest with ourselves and do the work it's going to take to change our thinking. It's up to us, we have a choice. Good luck and God bless.

Hi Jane, You posted in the right spot. You'll find lots of people with many different experiences who are supportive and encouraging. This chat forum has been an answer to prayer. I have social anxiety but I've found that once I opened up on this forum I felt freedom from the imprisoning feeling of being all alone with my anxiety. I'm excited for you to start the program. I'm in Session 3 right now and have been filled with more compassion for myself and better understanding that's preparing me to tear down my big debilitating brick wall.

Welcome to the group....keep posting as you go through this week...you've found lots of support!

Jen
