I did it. I have had this huge exercise phobia. So I thought I would take a yoga class. I got out of work a little after five and rushed over to the rec. center. I told myself I will do this and I can do this. I got there found the class and went in. The yogs teacher came to and said sorry you are five minures late so you cant take the class tonight. I asked when the next class will be she said not till next Thursday. Instead of coming home I went into the work out room and did the eliptical for 25 minutes. I am so glad I did that instead of coming home. I am still going to try to get there on time next Thursday.

Good Job!

There really is something about exercise that helps. I have been working out now for 3 weeks. Last week I saw some improvement and it has boosted me up a bit.

That success has prompted me to start posting here. :-)

I am walking but have an exercise phobia due to worrying about being able to breath. Congratulations on doing this! I hope to join you soon!

It's ironic because exercising and starving was what somewhat got me here in the first place! and I stopped working out for awhile but now ive started back but in moderation! Im only doing what my body can handle and i feel great. I wake up at 6:30 in the morning and walk on the treadmill for about 30 minutes and it makes me feel so great! I think our bodies enjoy realeasing all that stress and negative energy by working it off! Smiler

Marie,

You are so right about how working out can melt stress. I know it helps me get rid of negative thoughts. Probably because I can't think about anything but breathing.

I am someone who really doesn't like to leave the house unless I have to. Work and then home usually, but my wife convinced me to get started and so I have been jogging around the neighborhood. I did it on my own for a little over a week and will be joining her in her class tomorrow (Monday).

This is a real stress builder for me. Not only will I be in public, but I will be working out with a bunch of people I don't know. My stomach gets queasy just thinking about it. But the program says I should get out and face this. This is one of my big fears. As a man I am supposed to be strong, but I have a feeling I will be one of the weakest there.

Has anyone here ever heard of CrossFit?

Will, you will do great. Don't judge yourself, just go and tell yourself that its just the beginning, you may not be as in shape as you want, but you are taking steps to get there. Focus on what you are accomplishing! Be proud of youself!

Hi all: Does anyone try to work out in their home? Like on an exercise mat, doing leg raises on each side, and sit-ups, about 25-50 of each. And then I have these little 5 lb weights that I lift (about 25-30 reps on each side). It has really helped to tone my arms. Does anyone else do this, or do all of you go outside of your house to exercise?

Hi, I have a running machine and I work out on light weights. I also play football with my seven year old son. Actually I'm just starting to get back into it.

jasminemody,
I have a treadmill that I use. I have thought about using arm weights. I think I need an exercise plan. I exercise at home, that way I have no excuses to do it. I still need some motivation though. Has anyone lost weight doing the exercising??? I've lost about 10 pounds so far.

If anyone has knee or joint problems you can try a mini trampoline to use at home. I used to be a runner but over time it caused me knee problems. The mini trampoline takes the stress of the joints and I swear it's as good as running outside. I can move it anywhere in the house and the results are great.
