So I am pregnant (34 weeks) and have had 'white coat' hypertension since college (about 15 years) and my bp has been high in the office through out my pregnancy but recently my readings at home were high. So now I am on bedrest and also have to take bp meds...so I am freaking out. Like lots of us, I don't like to take meds- it was a struggle just to take my prenatal vitamin (of course now I take it happily). I have read all the side effects a million time but can't stop worrying about it's effect on the baby. Also, being home all day on bedrest, I worry, what if, negative think- it's such a struggle. Any advice? Thanks in advance, I love hearing from people on this board.

I think you're referring to your BP meds, right? Remember that your doctors know what's best for you and baby. That's easier said than done, but that has to be one of your top replacement thoughts when you catch the negatives.
I'm 26 weeks pregnant and don't want to even think about bed rest, but you're being such a great mom already for following doctor's orders to follow through with it. A lot of women are selfish and don't do that. good for you! Not too much longer and things will be dramatically different in a good way! Keep focused that you're helping the baby with the meds and bed rest. Life changes all the time. We have to learn to roll with it. Good job and good luck!! |

Two things...1. Dale Carnegie has a book called Stop Worring...I'm reading it and it makes me feel good. and 2. think of all those millions of mom's who have an issue with their pregnancies and came out just fine. So will you. Make it that way.
don't let all that sitting in bed allow you time to worry. Catch Joel Osteen or Joyce Meyers if they are on, very uplifting and inspirational. |

Also, remember that you are "full term" in just two more weeks! I am 16 weeks pregnant right now and we are "watching" my BP, but I'm on anxiety meds and realize that the doc knows what is best, so I take them for the baby and me.
I delivered my youngest daughter at 33 weeks, a week shy of where you are now, due to placenta previa, and she was fine-5 lbs, 2 oz. You are really in the "safe" zone now, so relax, and enjoy sleep while you still can! "If nothing ever changed...there would be no Butterflies." Author unknown |
