Ok, my child has some field trips planned to local areas. She goes to a small preschool in town, so all the parents drive their child to the field trips. Which isn't bad but this time we have to drive to a larger city. I've been having a time for the last year with driving. I'm nervous I'm going to pass out or something while driving and I'm afraid I'll get dizzy while driving. With the fast movement of everything. Also I'm just anxious around groups of people. I go shopping and all but sometimes I have those moments. Being with groups of people and not being able to run away when I can gets me anxious. Just wondering how people deal with these issues while having to go on field trips with your little ones! Or am I the only one going through this? UGH....I'm on cd 2 of the program. Thanks for any replies!!!

i used to feel that way too. always scared to go out in public. scared i couldnt find a bathroom or any place to escape just in case. i think you just need to talk to your self. repeat calming words or think of something peaceful. also, i take lorazepam. its an anxiety pill. it may make you sleepy. or you can take a few valerian pills. you can get them at gnc. good luck

Green Bean first off your not the only one. Second way to go on starting the program!!! I don't suffer from the same problem but here is a couple of things just to consider. First off like Holly said keep talking to yourself telling yourself that you can and will do this and that you will be fine. Also i know gas prices are high right now but you may want to drive the route that you will be taking before that day when there will not be so much for you to be dealing with. That way you know the roads and you know that you can do it when your alone so then you know you can do it when the day comes. Your mind is very powerful use it to your advantage. My ex hated to drive so she would turn up the radio t help her be calmer when she was driving. Just a few thinks to think about. Keep going your doing great and remember we are all here for you and we all believe in you. Del

greenbean.
I too have fears of traveling. I have many reason for that, many of which are real, others are anxiety laden.
If you can try to go small distances, first, and build up to a trip it would help.
Also, I agree, use your medication to help you with this anxiety.
Esp. if you know that they help.
Many times we will bring on our own problems and make a self full filling prophecy. If you think about it, and have fear, and anxiety, it might happen. But if you can switch it around to start telling yourself that if you get dizzy, you can sit down, or take a break, find 2nd and 3rd helpers it might elevate the anxiety, and allow you to enjoy, or at least go with your child.
