Hello,

I've been worried about my daughter for a long time. She is 7 and has always been very sensitive and shy. That's ok with me, but I'm concerned that she might be a little obsessive in her thinking, but don't know. She also has a huge heart. And that's good too, but it's so huge that the littlest comment that puts unexpected attention on her throws her into embarrassment and run and hide kind of behavior. And for the thinking part, if someone says or does something to her that makes her feel like she did something bad and makes her feel like she is bad or that others think she is bad, she will harbor that for months and sometimes longer. Also, if another child gets in trouble or gets hurt, she immediately wants to confirm with me that she didn't do anything. I always assure her that she didn't do anything, but sometimes she insists that I think that she did, even though I repeatedly tell her that I don't think she did anything.

Can anyone elaborate on this? Is this normal behavior for a 7 year old sensitive girl or should I be concerned about this? And does anyone have any resources for children for this that they would recommend?

Thanks for reading,
Eileen Smiler
