I still am a fairly new Dad. My son is 3 1/2. I was wondering how everyone deals with their children when they get sick. My son has asthma, used to have lots of ear aches, colds etc. And when he gets sick, I just go into major anxiety. I hate to see him feeling bad, and this is usually one of my triggers for a bad day or week or more.

My husband is like this and he usually feels better after we have taken them to the doctor. But that isn't always necessary and we would also be in the "poor house" if we did everytime he wanted to. I think the thing to remember is that getting sick is God's way of building up our immune system. I know that having our children feel bad is a hard thing to endure. I too have children (3) and my daughter had severe chronic earaches. She had 9 during kindergarten. We finally took her to an ENT doctor and she had her tonsils removed and tubes put in her ears. She hasn't had a head cold or earache since and she is going into 2nd grade now! It has helped me and my husband to trust that this too shall pass. Blessings to you!
