Hello kimmer,

I got the program a few years ago. I went up to chapter 8, found chat, and kinda got lazy with it. But, the tools I learned from it were invaluable. I also have a wonderful fiancee, Kathy, who helps me a great deal. She's very outgoing, and if I want to enjoy her company, I have to go with her. I couldn't make myself go hardly anywhere before. Now, with the exception of a little anticipation, I have no problems whatsoever. I just recently returned from a 3,154 mile vacation, which I drove every mile of. It was so much fun. kimmer, you're going to have to make yourself get out there and experience the fear, in order to get over it. The more you do it, the easier it gets. Now, when I'm somewhere, I rarely even think about having social issues. And if I do, I "change" the channels as soon as a thought comes into my head. What I mean is, as soon as a thought comes into my head, I've trained myself to instantly think of something else. It WILL get better kimmer, but only if you apply what you learn in the program. Does no good to do the relaxation tape, do all the homework, then not go out to experience your fears. If I can do it, you can do it. Don't let this ugly monster called fear keep you from enjoying your life. Just think, a mere thought is causing all this anxiety. You can beat this hon, hang in there, and never say never. Good luck, Jim

I find that in any social situation there has to be good listeners as well as talkers. Be a good listener. Have some generic questions available when those talkers take a breath. People love to talk about themselvelves and you learn about them and perhaps make a friend.
