I was wondering if anyone has tried and liked any type of hebal remedie for anxiety. I was looking into Valarian root and I would like to know if anyone has tried it. I have been doing my second week for about a month now, I am having a horrible time relaxing and I am looking for help. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

Hi Darlene, There was a time for me too, when i could not relax. This was impossible for me...that was several years back, when i had no control at all over the mental and physical fear in my body. At that time, it was very intense and i had almost no relief. To relax only brought up even more fear. I haven't felt that way in many years now. You may not be having it that way, but i can tell you what helped me. I did do many different relaxation techniques, some on cassette, some live! I was attending a school for training in Transformational Psychotherapy, and the instructor always did a deep-relaxation exercise prior to the class. When fears or whatever feelings came up for me, we would work on it later. (of course, you're not in a school such as that one, but perhaps you could work with a therapist) It helps so much to have someone to do this with at times. Are you taking any medication? As far as herbals go, i tried many back then. What helps many people is St.John's Wart, although for me it just knocked me out!! (not the usual) Also, something called Kava Kava can be relaxing...my friend uses it for sleeping. In some of those relaxation exercises, i used to imagine 'roots' coming through the bottom of my feet, and down into the earth. This felt like it 'grounded' me. It's hard to know what might help, when i don't know why you are having a hard time relaxing. Is it because relaxing brings up feelings you find hard to take? I think you mentioned you've been doing Lesson 2 for a month. How about going on to Lesson 3...that, in itself, could help alot!! If i have misinterpreted anything, let me know. love.....Lindi

I have taken "One-a-Day" brand nightime pills. They have Valerian Root, KavaKava and Rosemary. It is very relaxing without any drug hangover feeling the next day.

I have gotten my body on a good sleeping schedule by using drugs like these in the beginning weeks.

I am sleeping from about 10:30PM-7AM during the week. When I am sleep deprived I have noticed that my generalized anxiety is higher.
