I started the program five weeks ago, but am only on week 4 because I am overwhelmed by all the care and feeding it requires.

Listening to the audio 3 times a week + relaxation 3 times a day + workbook exercises + journaling + additional suggestions depending on the weekly exercise is a LOT for a busy person.

Based on the participants in some of the group discussions, I hear many people saying their anxiety/depression prevented them from going out and participating in a lot of typical activities, and I find myself wondering whether this program is targeted more towards folks who have stepped back in some ways and may have time to really work the program.

That said, how do other busy people find time for all this?

I FIND IF YOU WANT IT TO WORK U WILL MAKE THE TIME. I HAVE 3 GIRLS 1 IN THE BAND, 1 IN SOFTBALL AND THE OTHER JUST WANTS TO GO ALL THE TIME. I HAVE TO DO THIS FOR MYSELF. I HAVE A FULL TIME JOB, BILLS TO PAY, HOUSE TO CLEAN & COOK. IT IS ALL WHAT YOU MAKE IT HANG IN THERE AND IT WILL GET BETTER.

I work full time running a business with my husband and cook clean and such. do the relaxation tape at nite just before bed..I listen to my tape while im getting ready for work and then i listen to it in the car on my way to work and on my computer at work. The rest you just make it fit..Stick with it.Good Luck

Just got my kit yesterday.... and from the starter tape, I do not (yet) see a difference from this and all the boks that I have read.

The tapes said Recognize and beleive, this will pass (yea, but some other stressor will take it's place) and distract yourself (tasks at work, and hobbies) ... it's the stress and depression that are distracting me from the otherwise distractors!

I have read many books... how will this program be different...

Folks,

Thanks for all of your responses. I guess my trouble is that I'm trying to stay away from being hard on myself and being a perfectionist. However, only if I am hard on myself and am a perfectionist can I find time for (what I frankly believe to be) unrealistic time commitments. I have done the math on how much time this takes per day if you do the relaxation, coaching videos, etc. and it is 1.5 hours per day (10.5 hours per week), for fifteen weeks. This is not an insignificant time commitment, and as a busy person, I am having trouble with it.

I appreciate those who say they have found ways to make it work, but couldn't that be just another example of taking a very imbalanced approach?

When I first started the program a week and a 1/2 ago. I felt very overwhelmed. I had to step back and look at reason that I ordered the program to begin with. My life was just surviving at best. I wanted to live and I wanted freedom from the fear, anxiety, and depression that had been driving my bus since I was ten years old. I will 43 in July. I have tell myself everyday, just do it. It is said that you can make or break a habit in 21 days. I believe it and that is my goal. I want this to become a part of my everyday life so I can live life instead of being a bystander. One of the biggest distractions I have found is the TV. I used to watch it all day. It was an easy escape. I am now limiting my intake of TV by a bunch and find that I have more time to do the program. I love being outdoors and working my garden and yard. I play the audios out their so there are no interuptions like the phone. I do have it bit easier right now cause oldly enough I was a horrible wreck 4 weeks ago and am still mending so I have some extra time on my hands. I am firm believer that things happen for a reason. I have been the type to be on the go and constantly busy so that I do not deal with the feelings and lack of confidence that is going on inside. The wreck forced to slow down. I am not even allowed to drive. I live on a farm between to very small towns. Hang in there. It is worth it. It took noah longer then a few weeks to build the ark.
If you find yourself getting angry at the amount of time you have to give the program. Think of all the time that anxiety and depression and perfectionism has robbed you of.
Big Grin Have a great day. Kimberly

PAndora,
There is a big difference..I to have read all the books and i'm still struggling with panic and fears. I started the program a couple of weeks ago i'm on lesson 3 and i can already see an improvement in my thought process..Maybe its the calming voices on the tapes but give it a chance. I was on zoloft since 96 and just got switch to cymbalta in september..I still get some anxiety and panic but i'm learning that threw the program its mind over matter medication will help with the chemical stuff but the program will help with the other. I have also been in therapy and got no where cuz I needed CBT and I have yet to find one that does CBT. The program is very helpful for that part.

Hi: I too am having troubel wonderingif I am going to get through this program/ I don't sleepat niht. I wake up sametime everymorning, the ces poundinglike crazy, sore all over ,tired. I feel like I am in a fog some days.

I live alone in an old house. That is what started all this. I let things get to me, which I know, I shouldn't do. This has been going on for sometime. untill last fall when something happpended in the house that left me a nervous wreck. Came home from work one day to find the roof leaking Again. Later that night my smoke dectors started acting up. Tried changing the batteries in sone, thinkinbg they might be old. That didn't work. Had to call fire dept. and have them come and check to make sure nothing was seriously wrong. Turned out I did have a bunch of bad batteries/ I had just bought them short time before when i pruchased a new smoke dector for one of my rooms. Sometimes they will sit on a shelf for way to long and loose their functions.

Been a nervous wreck since. I found the program in Feb there are days when I don't get a chance to listen to the tapes.

Myh doc suggest maybe finding a roommate for company. It might help to occupy your mindsomewhat.

My job sometimes dosn't help the stress.

I haven't told anyone about my being on the program> i probably should . My kids know something is going on but not sure what.

I know I am not the only one going through this.

I have got to get my head on straight. I think I am getting depressed over all this. I don't want to go any where or do any thing. jujst stay home and hopefully catch somesleep.

Dear Diamond...phew! Slow down there! This is what the whole "perfectionism" thing is all about! Wink

I started the Program in January and I am on Lession 12! I go at my own pace and so far it has truly made an impact in my life! I DO need to listen to the Relaxation Tape more often..I find that when I slack off then start listening to it again I am like "Aha! This tape really works and I need to use it more often! Razzer

The beauty of Purchasing this System is that, unlike seeing a therapist (which I also do) you can GO BACK to whatever issues you may need help with ANYTIME YOU WANT! So if you don't feel like certain things are "sinking in" don't worry...just keep going and go back to it later. Yes, you need to be committed to making positive changes in your life...but you CAN work this Program around your schedule and your needs. It's just like "us" to do what you did and actually calculate out exactly how many hours a week this would take...but you really don't need to squeeze it all into a week to get results ...I am living proof of that! Big Grin

I listen to the audio portion when I am driving or sometimes when I am cleaning around the house. I DO listen to it 3 times and watch the video during the same Lesson..but it sometimes takes me 2 weeks to get thru everything because I get busy...this program is not designed to become another stressor in your life. You can customize it to work around your needs! Smiler

Good luck..and don't give up!!

Thanks leajay!
I was wondering the same thing about time for the program and I have found it taking me longer then a week to get thru one lesson and was wondering if anyone else took longer. Your comments picked me up and I quit beating myself up for not finishing in exactly one wek.

Yes, leajay, thank you! It has been taking me longer than a week to get through lessons, and it is encouraging to hear that you are five months into the program and still following at your own pace Smiler

I'm bad about not doing the relaxation tape. I only doing it a few times a week. I don't know if it hurts or hinders me. I feel okay with it. I often do the breathing when I'm trying to go to sleep and I think of the tape without going through the whole process.
