Oh MY GOD... can I completely relate! My heart rate is usually above 100 anytime I'm standing. I bought a heart rate monitor and it shows a heart rate sometimes in the 120's and I'm not even doing anything. Just standing. I'm not even anxious when I notice it but then I become very anxious because I feel it pounding. I spoke to my primary and also saw a cardiologist that bought thought it was related to anxiety/panic disorder. I guess I can see that being chronically anxious would raise a person's heart rate until the body becomes more relaxed.. but it's annoying and scary. I wish it would beat more slowly because then I'd think I'd feel more relaxed. The only choices I was offered was relaxation/biofeedback or a beta blocker which slows down the heart rate. OR antidepressants. I just started one again so I'm waiting to see if that will make a difference in my heart rate. Another thing is that this may be just the way our heart pumps and a faster rate is normal for us.

I asked the cardiologist if a rate that's always in the 100's to 120's would damage the heart and he said it wouldn't. I hope that helps. If you ever want to talk feel free to email me @ campedy@aol.com

Love
Donna
