My mother is 82 years old and has overwhelming and debilitating anxiety and depression. She has been diagnosed with depression/anxiety by her doc, was given Paxil, but will NOT take it. She says, "I don't need it." My sis and I are SO frustrated. Mom doesn't drive and barely leaves her house anymore. She is antisocial and has no friends. Her only outlet is an occasional visit to my sister's house when she needs to go grocery shopping, etc. Her worrying is driving me crazy! I have stopped telling her things so she won't worry, but she does anyway. When I travel, she wants my flight numbers so she can watch CNN for "when your plane crashes." So now I don't even tell her when I'm leaving. If I happen to die in a plane crash, she will just say, "I told you so!" It would be funny if it weren't so sad...

Dear Deb

If she uses it, it should help. But the question is, will she. It is completly up to her wheather or not she wants to recover. I certainly hope she does. Just remeber, take care of yourself and I would suugest your sister do the same. Unfortunatly, if your mom doesn't want to do anything about this, there isn't much you can do for her. All you can do is be supportive of her and do your best to make sure that you are taking care of yourselfs.

But to answer your question, I see no reason why the program wouldn't help her if she does it. It certainly has helped a lot of other people, myself included.

Good Luck, Mellie

I totally agree with Mellie. This program can help anyone interested in getting better. It takes time and effort to change those things about ourselves that is causing anxiety. Ask your mom if she's interested and I hope she is, but its up to her.
Good luck. Reena
