I seem to have more problems w/ my anxiety when it is really hot and humid outside. I live in South Carolina It get's so humid here. My wife and I are talking about moving to Michigan where her family lives. Does anyone have this problem when it's hot and humid?
Hey there, I can relate with this. I live in Charlotte and spend a lot of time in SC. The humidity and heat can be troublesome. I think it really relates back to breathing and I try to remember that when I feel that way. I even dreamt about this feeling last night. I dreamt I was on a golf course (probably in SC) and had that feeling. This is my first post. Good luck and wish me the same!
Hi Steve I live in Michigan and I don't think you would like the weather today its about 88 with high humidity but thats only today, tomorrows high is only 74 I have a hard time with the heat,I've seen alot of posts about this topic I thinks it just adds to the Uncomfortable feeling I was on the golf course this weekend and it was super humid NO FUN but I got through it just remember you are the one that is creating the fear, anxiety about the heat not the actual weather and If you decide to move to Michigan its a awesome state I live 20 mins from Detroit (LIONS,TIGERS) and 20 mins from the country and 10 mins from Lake Erie which by the way at sunset is awe inspiring Let me be the first to welcome you to MICHIGAN and call me when you get here, will go hit a bucket!!!

I live in Southern California and its been so hot and humid here. For some reason Spring and summer make my anxiety worse. WHen Fall and winter come by I am so much better. I think I have summer SAD. Most people get SAD when its winter but for me its opposite. I hate the heat!!

Heat also makes me worse. It was 102, 103 and 104 here last week. HollyJ, I also love the fall. In CA though, there isn't much SAD because CA gets sun in the winter compared with the northern states and midwest, you get maybe 2 sunny days/month. In OH it's so cold in the winter, no one wants to go outside which adds to the depression.
Anyhow, take care! Ocean

Hey *LOL* I live in California, too and hell yes, there is a LOT of SAD here. Where I used to live, a mere 35-40 min. drive from where I am now, there is a 35 degree difference. Coastal vs. inland = huge dif.
Be well and gentle blessings~

thanks for all of your replies. it was really helpful. i thought i was the only one with this problem not that i'm glad that ya'll have the same problem i'm just glad that i'm not alone. thanks again ya'll,
I get worse in the heat as well. I love summer-yet I can't stand to be hot. I get panicked so much easier when it is hot, and especially if it is stuffy.
I live in Pittsburgh, PA (the city with the second least amount of sunny days in the country) and I have SAD. In the winter I get panic much more so than in the summer. That lack of sunshine is hard!
Despite fact that I love the sunshine in summer, Pittsburgh is VERY humid, and I too sometimes get panic from the really hot and stuffy days.
I think for most of us that anything that causes an unpleasant body symptom is going to be a trigger of anxiety. Humidity makes me feel as though I cannot breathe right, so then I start paying attention to my body sensations, and wham- an anxiety attack.
I think the calming self talk works well. I just keep reminding myself that the feelings are normal for a hot and humid day and then I try to think about somethin else. Also, I think trying to stay in the air conditioning if possible is a good idea as well. Keep up the good work!
