I started the program in August. I am now at the end of session 2. Being alone and driving alone are my cause of panic attacks. In the session it talks about confronting your fears and pushing forward. That you have to have a panic attack to use your tools. This all sounds good while I am listening to it and I feel really strong and confortable about it until it is time to drive alone. Does this mean that I am not to that point yet or do I need to push thru this? MAKE myself drive alone.?

I too am half way through week 2. In my humble opinion, you could start slowly and go for a short drive. Go someplace that's a short distance away. This way you can exercise your new skills without overdoing it. Choose a time when the roads are likely to be less congested. Don't go at 5pm on Friday afternoon, instead go at 8 am on Sunday morning. Praise yourself for taking a risk, even if you just sit in your car in the driveway. Even small steps can lead to a change.

My anxiety relates to eating food. So I take small risks and use my comforting self talk. With each small risk you take, it brings confidence. The more confidence you have, the more risks you become willing to take.

Stay the course... You can do it!

Hi all!

I have food anxieties too. I have this phobia of allergic reaction, despite the fact I have only had a reaction once, and it was to a medication. I also have OCD and fears of getting food poisioning. Food anxiety is so tough becasue you can't stop eating, so it is there every day. I too am about half way through week 2 and am starting to take small risks. I am starting to cook at home and seeing that my food is good and I am not getting sick. I agree that the confidence building is great, even if it is just very small steps. Good luck!

AdeleS is right - baby steps my friend. Try just going around the block for starters. Then build from there. Don't overwhelm yourself with it. The program will give you a LOT of tools to help you deal with all of this - session 3 is a biggie - so stick with it.

Good luck.

John
