i was a victim of a violent crime on october 5th 2005. i was shot twice at a customers house while working at rent-a-center. i have had 7 surgeries, i have a bullet in my ribs, a metal filter in my chest,i am partially paralized in the right wrist and fingers, and have limited motion in my right shoulder. i am interested in talking to others who have been the victim of a violent crime, any violent crime not just shootings, then maybe i will not feel so alone.
thanks

Jim, I was not a victim of a violent crime but I just wanted to acknowledge your post. I mean just doing your job and your whole life changes forever. I cannot even image all you have been through and are still going through.Have you just started the program?

Hi Jim. I have read your post several times, and am at a loss for words to share. I am so sorry about what happened, and how it changed your whole world in a few seconds. One moment life is as usual and the next everything changes. I want you to know you are in my thoughts. I wish there were words I could share that would not sound empty. Your friend, Pecos.

Hi Jim,
Oh Jim people can be so weird( regarding the comment on your picture.)

You seem like you are proactive on what has happend to you. Mentally how did (or do) cope with what took place?

I am going to check out the website mentioned.

You are a member of a group no one goes into on purpose (victim of a violent crime). It can happen anytime, anywhere. I believe it's like watching a hurricane on television (we are certainly having a bad one today). People can see it, see the damage, and mostly we don't associate it with our own lives. Katrina touched all of us, and this one will, too. And so do violent crimes. Many, many years ago I was driving home late at night from a hospital in Los Angeles. I was with another therapist. We'd been to a meeting. We were en route to San Bernardino. I was exhausted and took the wrong off ramp. We ended up around 3 a.m. in a warehouse district. The passing traffic was not comforting. I ran out of gasoline! Almost as soon as I pulled off the road a tow truck appeared. The driver stopped. He had a two gallon emergency can of fuel on his tow truck. He poured it in my tank and refused money! My fellow therapist and I were spared. It was the worst possible place for a couple of young female therapists to be at 3 a.m. I hope others who read your post here can reach back into their own histories and recall those moments when they might have easily joined the group you are now in. I will visit the site you mentioned, too. I wish you well!

thank you so much for your kind words!!! it means alot, i am so glad that tow truck helped you when it did, i would not wish this on anyone including the man who did this to me. i mhave publically forgiven him on live radio and on the news. people think i'm crazy, but holding anger towards him is not going to get me through this any easier. don't get me wrong i am angry all the time, but more at what i can't do or that it happened at all,not at him personally.

I checked the site out Jim. Gino's story really touched me. I am not a great prayer warrior but I do want to keep you and others on the site in prayer. The battle you wage each day emotionally, spiritually and physically is something. Thanks for making people like me aware.
