I have been trying to overcome my anxiety attacks for a few years now. I was on Effexor for 2 years and the doctor that I saw did not offer any additional support. He only said to swallow the pills.

I was off effexor twice know over the past six months for about one month to 5 weeks each time and know they have but me on Celexa.I am still working on getting off this stuff altogether.
Before I started the Effexor I had occasional anxiety attacks and fought not to give in to my doctors insistance that I take Effexor. After two years I had a nervous breakdown and wanted off the Effexor. My anxiety attacks only came back ten fold, I was off but I did not feel I had the coping skills to deal with these massive attacks.

So I gave in to going back onto a new SSRI, Celexa for a few months.

I am terrified as I feel like I have 0 sex drive. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this? I am newly married and my husband and I have goen through so much trauma in the past few months that I am scared that it will hurt or marriage. Is there any way out of this?

Dear BHG,

Have you tried anything like the Attacking Anxiety program?

What is your diagnosis?

Have all the anti depressants you've tried lead to decreased libido?

Anti depressants raise our serotonin level which helps some to think more positive, but it doesn't by itself stop panic. The anti depressant doesn't Change our thoughts...we do that. Unless there is an underlying physical problem, we turn on our panic and we turn it off. Sounds too simple I know-but I believe that we can learn how to make significant changes in how we think and behave and therefore manage panicky feelings.

We may need the antidepressant but we also need the cognitive skills and the behavioral skills to deal with panic.

I truly believe you will find your answers and live a healthy, happy life. You are a searcher... and do you know what searchers do?

...They FIND. Patience and diligence, Carolyn
