Hi,
I started menopause at the age of around 35. Only problem is, I didn't know it. I was on birth control pills and they masked the symptoms. I had severe anxiety and panic attacks for years. Finally, I went off the BCP and thinks started to change. First, I never had another period. This scared me and made me wonder if I was pregnant. As it turned out I was one of those unusual women who go through menopause early. By the time I was 40 it was all over. I had severe mood swings to the point where I thought I was going crazy. Once I was off of the pills I talked to my OB/GYN and told him how depressed and anxious I was. He explained that hormonal changes in women can affect the serotonin levels in the brain. Sometimes anxiety and depression are hormanal. I ended up taking an antidepressant for 2 years. I continue to have hot flashes. Just a thought - go and see your OB/GYN or family doctor and have your FSH levels tested. The first time they are tested may not result in an answer. I had mine tested 3 times before I learned that I had gone through menopause. |

I too thought I was in menopause a while back I stopped getting my period even when I was on bc's. Once I went off the Bc's my hot flashes and night sweats had stopped. But the doctor laughed at me when I suggested early meno because I was only 30 at the time. He said my levels came back normal. I had started using an all natural progesterone cream and I actually got pregnant last sept. (only to miscarry on Thanksgiving day). Once I got pregnant I gave up on the idea that menopause might be a contributer-however I still never get my cycle.
any suggestions? |
