I don't know what percentage of those working this program have been suffering with agoraphobia and have been almost housebound...for many, many years - Those who have not been able to work or to participate in most activities. I am one, who could not fill out certain questionnaires in the workbook (like the one where we are asked what we can or can't do, where we can go or cannot go) because i have been unable to do ALL of those things, if they happened to be more than a few blocks away from home. So, i am asking specifically here... if it would be possible to present a Forum where those who HAVE lived this way for great periods of time, and who are actually experiencing true recovery, might give some encouragement. Because, after spending almost 30 years this way, it is hard to imagine this is possible!
Thank you.

dawfai,
are you agrophobic.how did you find this post?it is very old.this would be good to hear from someone who has been there and recovered.I have been agrophobic for 30 years I have missed a lot of school functions that were out of town.I live in a small zone I got better by taking an old tryclic anti depressant. I started taking it in the 80s.at that time I was getting close to being housebound.I was very afraid of that I live in a rural area where we are not close to good Drs.but I found a phychrist that suggestted I take this medication.I was a little educated on this that this medicine helped with panic attacks really was suppose to control them to the efect that you were able to face my phobias.which were certains areas I could not go even with someone else.over the years I got better but there was always some where I was avoiding I felt well had a few areas that I still avoided. Then one day trying a new area I felt very anxios had my husband to turn around and come back from there on I have slid back down the latter.that was 3 years ago I still am strougling I got the program 4 or 5 years ago for my husband who is ocd.now I need it my self.I have started it 2 or three times never finishing it.Ihave a hard time jouraling and facing my fears these two appear to be the key.it gets to a place in the program lucinda say s it is time to face your fears with your skills we need to learn to do that I am going to start jouranling I and I need to face my fears it is the running that keeps a person there facing is the key
