I seems many people deal specifically with depersonalization and derealization as a result of their disorder. I've read alot of posts from members struggling with a very frightening and little understood symptom. I feel these symtoms warrant their own forum. Coping skills, advice, information learned etc. etc. There is a web site out there but it is not nice. I do not like the overall feeling. People can be too mean and crude. I think Lucinda set a standard of Christian compassion. Everyone needs that. This forum seems to have a much more gentle and caring approach from people who are truly interested in helping one another.

I totally agree. I suffer with DP/DR and it is very scary. I think an area where we can go and support each other and talk about our experiences sounds like a great idea. I also agree that most websites w/ forums I've seen dealing with this symptom are not helpful. It would help me a lot to know I could talk specifically about this unnerving symptom here, I'm all for it!

There are some who believe DP/DR is a disorder in it's own right. Many believe, and I think correct, that it is a defense mechanism toward anxiety. I think it is as important a symptom as OCD or IBS. Many of the program's CBT definitely work in easing this symptoms, but again..other web sites are horrible with this. This is the only safe place I have. Other sites are scary and the people can be so mean-especially toward the Christian mind set.

Hey , Im all for a fourm just on DP/DR. I hate it , its the worst part for me . I think if it was gone I would be alot further along. I too have heard that some think It is a disorder on its own, which is a little scary, but then there are others who have recovered from it , so Im holding out hope that it will be gone one day. I think your right kvsdiva , there are alot of frightning sites out thee , with alot of people who just dont have clue what this disorder is all about. Jackie

Dear MWC,
Any news or ideas on this topic? I really think it would be a great forum. We need this. I'm learning alot about this aspect of anxiety through reading and my therapist. I think members could benefit. Blessings, Kristen |

Just wondering if there's any new news about developing this forum? Only a couple of us are in this thread, but I know personally, a lot more suffer from this and I think it would be beneficial to have a special place for us to talk away from the general section. I honestly believe if there is a forum for people suffering from IBS, I think DP/DR is just as, if not more of an annoying symptom, in a different way =-) I'll take irritable bowels over constant head-fogginess ANYDAY!
