Would anybody be interested in a discussion about anxiety and the onset of early menopause symptoms I find that I have entered that stage and it seems to be heightening all of my anxiety responses greatly I have no interest in medication or hormones and would love to know how others have coped with this
Hi AMS: I was just logging online and I can't believe that I saw your post. I am turning 44 in July and feel like I have been perimenopausal for at least 5 years. That seems to be when my panic attacks started. I feel out of sorts, heart palpitations, feeling like I can't breath and very dizzy. All of these feelings seem to happen one to two weeks before my cycle. I am so glad I got this program because it has helped me to stay focused and realize that I think this has to do with my hormones. I want to get through menopause without any meds if I can.
Hello Ladies. I used the natural transdermal Progesterone compounded from my pharmacy for two weeks every month and it was a Godsend for this. It helped me like nothing else did. It evened out all my moods and helped my insomnia. I went thru this pretty much natural and except for a few months on 'hormone therapy' that was it. Going thru this without anything can, depending on the severity be kinda hard. I opted for no synthetic anything and now I feel great.

I think this was the start of my panic attacks. I've always been an anxious person, but my first panic attack was about five years ago. It was around the same time that I had stopped taking my birth control pills (which I took to regulate my cycle). My period wasn't showing up in the week it was supposed to and from that point would go three to four months between. And then it stopped. Coincidentally, my panic attacks seemed to occur every three to four months. The doctors would tell me I was too young for menopause, even though everything I was reading said it could start as early as the late 30s. I was 40 at the time. I was also reading that menopause can increase or bring about anxiety, insomnia, night sweats etc. All of which I was having, and all of which are also symptoms of an anxiety attack. And my attacks, when I had them were hell on earth, lasting it seemed weeks, not the 15 minutes or so they claim. I finally got two separate doctors, at two separate times, using two different labs to do blood work on me last year and lo and behold, my hormone levels indicated that I was in menopause. I'm now 45. I haven't had a period in over a year, and haven't had a real panic attack in several months (past the three to four month mark). But I still fear all the time that one day I'll have another. Hopefully, with this program, and the longer I go without another one, that daily fear will pass. If you think your hormones are affecting you (hormonal issues can play havoc with the body), insist your doctor check them out.

It is definitely your hormones fluctuating around. This all started for me at 39. Anxiety out of no where, dread...of what I don't know. Worry over every little ache/pain/twitch you name it. Off-balance feeling....the list could go on.
After many doctor appts and charting this whole thing for 2 plus years, it is definitely HORMONAL. Sometimes I feel it pre and sometimes just after my period.
The first thing is to not let it scare you (I know easier said than done). Just feel it and let it float on by, donot apply a secondary fear (Claire Weekes..hope and help for your nerves)
My doctor suggested staying on my monophasic birth control pill to help and so far it has to some degree, I still get the anxiety, but knowing what it is, helps to make it go away.
cherl, thanks for your post. It helps to know your truly not alone in this wonderful part of life. Boy, can it really make you feel out of control. Just another lovely thing us women get to go through.
Thanks for all the post on menopause and anxiety. That's exactly how I am feeling. The worst thing for me right now is the heart palpations. I'm trying hard to keep this symptom separate from the anxiety. I am afraid of taking HRT. Has anyone gone the Bioidentical Hormones route? Has anyone found anything that helps with palpations?
I too am feeling much anxiety as I am probably premenopausal as well. I've managed my anxiety so well since doing the program, and I am really feeling frustrated that I can't seem to get a grip on the anxiety. I hope to talk to my obgyn about it, but until then I am listening to my tapes and have had to take anxiety meds on occasion, and trying not to beat myself up about it. Has anyone had any similar symptoms? Is it the hormones screwing with me?
I woould love a forum for this topic. I'm in it full force.
Is anybody taking a natural replacement for HRT? Is it helping? My panic attacks are coming daily, serveral times throughout the day. IT must be hormones. I'm tense, can't relax, and negative thinking way too much.

Yep, I am taking BHRT( bioidentical hormone replacement therapy) and am on an Estradial patch and progesterone cream. I have been on it for nearly 3 years every month but I can truly say it helps with sleep and fatigue but not to the extent I need it to! I am convinced it is more so what goes on in my head that is causing my overall anxiety. I am learning to meditate and recently bought a book "meditation for dummies" which makes understanding how to and what meditation is all about!

I wanted to ad my few cents in about BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy). I had a hysterectomy at 31 and now I'm 39. I suffered severely mentally afterwards to the point I made my kids get out of the house and called my mom. She took me to the doctor who asked was I taking my hormones (estratest) he had prescribed. I was not for fear of what synthetic hormones can do, so he showed me a list of what could happen to a women without these hormone replacements and I started taking them. A year ago I started getting into more natural forms of healing, medicine and food. I discovered that synthetic hormones are made from (horses URINE). How good can that be for a womens body I immediately began looking for an alternative and found the perfect place. The website is profilehealth.com. They will send you a saliva test and instructions which you do and send back to them. This test will tell them what hormones your body is high in and what hormones you are low in or missing. Then they design a specific all natural hormone replacement cream you apply daily. Synthetic hormones NEVER helped like the natural replacement creams, but it still is not an exact science. I still have some hot flashes and other issues that come along with natural menapause or surgical. I would definately recommend any women to GET OFF synthetic hormones and seek a natural replacement. Just check out profilehealth.com. They do everything through the mail. It does cost but some insurance covers the test and hormone cream. You can buy hormone cream in many places but none of these creams are specifically designed for you and your needs! Good Luck
