Would you rather be worried about being perfect or enjoying your imperfections?

we're often talking about things that make us anxious and depressed on this site and not as much attention is put on the positive side of things so i feel that sharing goals with each other would be a great way to do that. Some people might not think their goals are so big and people who have the same goals can say "i also have that goal" and that could show them that their goal isn't as dumb as they thought and it could be a place to go when you feel the world is really negative and see all these people's positive goals and I personally feel that it could make someones day.

I agree I've always thought that too much negativity is given to our anxiety.

Well my goal is to stay home alone one day.

I did the other day for 15 minutes for the first time in years.

Another goal to Drive around alone for a long time not just short periods.

Mike,

I'm not sure if you meant for this to be a thread where people place their goals or if you were suggesting a goals subforum.

If you wanted people to post their goals in this thread, sorry that I messed it up and didn't post a goal here.

But I would also like to see a goals subforum where people could go to start a thread on their goals. Other people could post on the thread to encourage them, cheer them on or perhaps give them some information they need to move ahead. So if that's what you meant by a goals forum, I heartily agree.

Well Eek I basically made this thread to get people to encourage this thought by agreeing with it or also sharing your goals, both are fine. Also its a great way for people to say "i had that goal and this is what i did to get there and maybe you can benefit from it"

Incredimale- why not have a goal to watch more humorous things and use them to distract yourself from your thoughts.

VictoriousD-Thats a good goal and it seems like your working towards it since you did it for 15 minutes. I had that goal too and i decided to move out into an appartment completely on my own. I feel that if you keep up with the relaxation cd/tape you'll feel comfortable to be at home alone. It sounds like your making the smaller goals to fulfill those bigger ones so good job Smiler

Kp- another good goal and that is awesome that you have your food and exercise in control. If your open to suggestion i'd suggest focus on orange juice or something else with vitamin C since it helps decrease stress and then maybe try working on drinking water.

Thanks Ninja for this idea. I really need to make less sugar my goal. I recently reached a goal which was getting a job when I didn't think I'd ever get something other than being self employed and even those were very short term. I started working at a bakery which is a major temptation. I can't believe how anything that tastes so good can be so bad. I didn't have that much bakery! Well, what's not that much to some people is way too much for another. Thank God Subway is in the same bldg. so at least I get veg. That didn't help tho when I had 3 pcs. of bakery. You wouldn't believe what it did to me!! It's like a major hangover. Even by the end of the day my body was aching so bad. I had a headache today, achy all over and crying/depressed. I know it's the sugar too. Why can some people eat tons and others any little extra throws them off. I called the health food store to ask what I could do. They said eat and pour into my body lots of anti-oxidants. She said to take this Vitamin C called EmergenC drink 4X with lots of water in between. I started doing that a couple hrs. ago and feel some better. It's almost 2:30pm and I'm not dressed yet. This is my day off. It's gorgeous outside and I have been way off but thanks to Ninja, I will work on if not eliminating sugar, definitely eating less.

Have you guys seen Steven Farris' thread? You have to set a goal for the next week and report back on your progress. He's doing that to try to convince Carolyn to start a goals forum.

I really like this thread and agree with the idea of posts towards the positive. I'll be watching how it unfolds. I have my personal goals and to be able to share and have some feedback would be great.

I really appreciate you saying because of me you will work on eliminating sugar. If it helps i will the sugar craving in chinese medicine terms. When we have overworked the brain (over analyzing, over stimulating) it affects the Spleen meridian (which is where the spirit of the intellect is), the taste of the spleen is sweet and that is what it craves when it is deficient. Its good to have sweet but not too much because that can further drain the spleen. Its ideal to get that "sweet" from fruits and vegetables.
Me personally i used honey instead of sugar and orange juice.
I've learned in nutrition class that when your blood sugar level goes down you crave sugar and when you use simple sugars from things like white sugar it tends to overdo it and then you quickly crash but you could use startchy things like wheat to rebalance your sugar levels and over time you'll crave less and less simple sugars Smiler
I also learned in that class that 1000mg of Vit C is alright, i'm not doctor myself but even 3000mg is good.

my goal is to use the relaxation tape 2 times a day at least and to get to bed before i exhaust myself out instead of forcing myself to work on something that i could do the next day.

Good Idea, this forum.
I realized not long ago, we all get in such a frantic hurry, even with anxiety. We dont take much time to notice the beauty around us.
So, one of my goals has been to just sit and watch a simple sunset, Or sit outside when its dark and look at the stars. Amazing how relaxing that can be. Sometimes i think we need to take a "reality" break, and just get away from phones, electricity, tv, computer, even its just for 30 minutes a day, and just sit in the quietness of the creation we live in..
I know its made a difference for me.. Take care NellySmiler
