I don't know if this will help you or not Nicole, but my Dad has had anxiety most of his life. Although he dealt with it in a different way, it's sometimes hard for me to deal with him because he's so controlling and makes you feel guilty if you don't do things his way or make him feel left out. I live with him (I just graduated college and moved across the country and don't have a lot of money right now.) and sometimes he drives me up the wall because now I can see what he's doing and what he's done. I'm starting to stand up and saying things, but it's still hard. I know that he won't listen to the tapes or change. He just wants me to get better...there's nothing wrong with him (he thinks). I just try and say something if he tries to make me feel guilty or if he's putting himself down. There's not much I can do...it seems. I also try and tell myself that he doesn't want to change, so what do I expect. Anyway, I hope this helps, I'm not sure of your situation, but I thought I would write anyway.
Good Luck, Cindy |

Dear Nicole
My aunt suffered from anxiety some years ago and from what she tells me, she is doing much better. She also told me that my grandmother used to have it and so do two of my cousins. However, these are the only ones that I am aware of. My guess would be that there are many more people in my family that have or have had problems with anxiety. The reason I say this is because alcholism runs rampent in this side of my family, especially in the men. It wouldn't surprise me if the reason they drink so much is to self medicate. Anyway, just wanted to answer your question. Best Of Luck To You Mellie |
