I suffered greatly with IBS for years, more than 10. It was horrendous. I missed classes as I spent so much time in the bathroom. I know what you're going through. I had every test under the sun.
I finally broke down and saw a homeopath who was also a medical doctor. He concentrated on my mental, physical and emotional symptoms. After a 2 hour session, he gave me 3 small herb pills under my tongue. He said I would feel sicker before I got better. I laughed quietly because he had no idea what I had suffered with for years.
Well, after a day or so, I was ready to strangle him. It hurt so bad like nothing ever before. I called him and he said this is normal. I thought I was poisoned it hurt so bad. Guess it's like "hair of the dog" Anyways, he was right and day by day I came out of the shadows of IBS. It's been 20 years and NOT ONE BOUT of IBS ever again have I experienced. It was a miracle for me and I wanted to share my story and encourage people to maybe consider homeopathy. Now the doctor I saw no longer lives in my area, I wish he was, because I need help with panic attacks.
I did speak with him years ago when I was starting to suffer with more panic after the IBS went away. He said homeopathy is like an onion, it peels away one layer and the layer underneath may be another issue. If you haven't given it a shot, why not? What have you got to lose? Try to seek out a professional or maybe even a medical doctor who specializes in homeopathy, I'm sure there are QUACKS out there. I'm grateful for years of no IBS pain. Good luck, I can relate.
I take probiotics for my Ulcerative Colitis and have been in remission for 5+ years.
There are certainly "quacks" but there are also some really great doctors out there that are very good and believe in holistic health along with supplements of different sorts.
I think it's great you found relief for your IBS !!

The guy is in Burlington Vermont if anyone is interested, let me know and I can pass on a name. He is a medical doctor and homeopath and he is brilliant. I will always be thankful that God led me to him. I saw him at 21 and I'm 42 and no colitis again for that many years after treatment. I had colitis for a dozen years if not more. I'd seen everyone and done every test. He was the only one to help me. I was very skeptical but you know, sometimes you get desperate. I was there and I tried anything. It was WORTH it. I was able to live my life again for the first time in AGES!
can you tell me if this guy can help with my IBS-c:chronic const problem? I've tried fiber, drugs, relaxation and I'm frustrated!!!! I hope he can help me
Karmish, have you tried raw, unprocessed wheat bran with LOTS of water??? I don't know how that can't help...are you reliant on laxatives? If so, get your doctor to help you find another way...you may need stool softeners for a short time also...GO to the Dr...there is no need to suffer with constipation.
Follow the "formula"(in the workbook) for introducing raw bran = SLOWLY over 2-4 weeks and when you find the right amount, 1-3 Tablespoons daily, stay with it- C.

sometimes the doc can help with constipation...from my experience they couldn't do a thing for me. It was only until I got into school and was taking chinese medicine that i knew what i need to do.
Diet is the major thing but the other is learning to let go of the emotional crap. Any kind of physical or emotional stagnation (something that causes pain or keeps you in an obsessive cycle), will affect the functioning of the large intestine first.
Learning to not be as effected and learning to go through your problems is a really great way of doing this...
I've been constipated for 12 years now and i'm being treated with shiatsu as part of an assignment in class. 6 treatments and i have found that i'm able to let go of emotional garbadge alot easier and even the dizziness, lethargy and spacy feelings are starting to go away.

Is a homeopath and nutrionalist the same? My husband is seeing a nutrionalist who seems helpful because she got him off a couple meds. He's paying $145 a month which is a lot because insurance covers nothing. I'm thinking all the tests, chasing to different Drs. and meds he's probably still better off. She said after 3 mo. it shouldn't be that much.

Homeopath works with herbs. I was very skeptical because of course I didn't believe he could help. I went to so many specialists of the colon/digestive system and no body could help me feel better. It was horrid. Always wondering where the toilets were everywhere I went. Now, and for the last 20 years, I haven't had to think about toilets...BIG SMILE! Although I do have panic attacks and he did say that sometimes people who have panic attacks get colitis because the colitis masks the panic. The panic was more severe after the colitis I tried something for the panic, herb wise, years ago, but didn't give it long enough to possibly work. I wanted a quick fix like the colitis going away. I contacted him recently and he sent me a new remedy to try for my pre-menopausal effects. Hopefully that will help it.
