Hey everyone. Just wanted to share that I had started a 'healthy' program of yogurt smoothies a while back and had the big D for 3 months straight. I know a lot of people take yogurt for the good bacteria etc. but I have found that if I have it more than once a week, I will get 'D'.

Hi,

Yogurt should never give you Diarrhea in fact it should improve your bowels because of the good bacteria in the yogurt. You said you made smoothies with yogurt. What ingredients were in the smoothies? If you have a candida problem you should just eat plain yogurt that is low in sugars. You can use stevia to make it more sweeter. And having the diarrhea was your bodies way of eliminating something. Try changing your diet with the yogurt and see what happens?

Zuzu, Please take note about the lactose intollerance. One of my children has this and it took a year before we determined that the dairy was her problem. My daughter's doctor did request that she eat yougurt each day to help with the good bacteria. She only eats it occassionally though.

She needed to be off dairy for a good three to four weeks to get her poor little system to settle down. She is off it totally with an occassional yougurt here and there.

You may want to try soy milk in your smoothies instead if you think that the lactose is the problem. That will maintain the healthy nature of this treat.

I have IBS and my Dr has told me I need to be on a lactose free diet as it agrivates it. The bacteria in yogurt can aslo be baught at a health food store in capsul form called asidophelis (not sure of the spelling). The daily muti vitamin that came with the midwest program also has it in there already.

Dairy is a common trigger for people with IBS. Not just for the lactose but also the casein. Try soy based products.

I had horrible IBS that felt like a vicious cycle. It didn't seem to matter what I ate. I started out by taking acidophilus tablets. Once things calmed down, I was able to eat yogurt. I also made smoothies like this: I took some frozen fruit, plain lowfat yogurt, and vanilla flavored soymilk and blended it for a delicious and friendly smoothy. I still get an attack now and then, but it definitely seems to be brought on by stress rather than anything else.

Javajive,

I had IBS for almost 20 years and I had a severe case of it. After many many years of suffering with diaherra, intestinal cramps, spasms, digestive discomfort and gas I finally found out that I had a bad case of candida that was causing my problems.

I went to a holistic doctor to find this out and did a bowel test. I am feeling better today with almost no problems. I eat lots of GOAT YOGURT (you can get this in a health food store) make sure it has very little sugar and it's plain. I also take a good probiobic, supplements and soy milk.

GOAT YOGURT is more healthier and has vitamins in it than cows milk. And it only takes 20 minutes for goat yogurt to digest as cows milk takes 2 hours. People who cannot drink cows milk can drink goats milk. Soy milk is also good to drink the vanilla is delicious. Make sure it's UNSWEETENED.

If you have a candida problem you should not eat any fruits, sugars, mushrooms, cheeses, left-overs, breads, yeast containing foods, high carbs. (they turn into sugars), formented foods like olives and vinegars.

A good book to get on candida is THE YEAST CONNECTION COOKBOOK by William G. Crook, M.D. It's easy to read and has lots of pictures and great receipes and explains all kinds of foods and grains. You have to order it at your local book store.

Most people who suffer from IBS have CANDIDA (over growth of yeast) in your system which is causing all your problems. Check it out!

To your success,

HI Everyone,

This post has been sitting still for a while and I thought I would kind of get it moving along. Does anyone have anything to say about YOGURT?

I love it I eat two quarts every week (goat yogurt) I need to get all the good bacteria I can get into my intestines because I had toooo much bad bacteria and not enough good bacteria.

Hi,
I'll try goat yogurt when I seen it. I agree that too many yogurts are sugar-laden. Boo!

I eat organic whole milk yogert, plain and I add real maple syrup to it. It's real good. I also get the organic French Vanalla whole milk yogert. I just love it.
I take probiotics daily. My whole digestion is much better.
I used to have rotten gass a lot but not anymore at all. It was terable.
Dr. Ohhira's Probiotics 12 PLUS is one of the best. www.EssentialFormulas.com .
