The following link should answer your questions about IBS: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/ibs/index.htm . It is a reliable website. I looked in my medical nutrition therapy textbook (which is used in nutrition courses in colleges accredited by the American Dietetic Association) and they did not mention any specific fruits being a problem for people with IBS. A registered dietitian would also be able to answer your questions.
I have had IBS for a long time. I did not know what it was until I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder. I take PRILOSEC and it helps for the most part. I don't eat certain foods because of food allergies (eggs milk, red meat, citrus), but mainly the doctors have told me you should avoid SPICY and FATTY/FRIED foods with IBS.

I have know stoped eating SUGAR this is a wonderful thing. i have felt a lot better. I still eat splenda some times but not a lot. If you dont know splenda is a sugar that does not raise your insalen level. droped my carbs. The really good thing is i lost 15lbs. in 4 1/2 weeks. My IBS is a lot better too.

House, congratualtions on the weight loss! I also have IBS, but have kept it under control by not eating as much sugar and swithching my diet to semi-vegetarian. My main stomach problems stoped when I cut out beef, and cut back on chicken. Foods that I find expecially helpful to my IBS are: pineapple/pineapple juice, tofu, snowpeas, jasmine or basmati rice, fish, spinach and other green veggies, olive oil, dandelion tea (sounds gross-but it has a mild coffee-like flavor and is delicious). Foods I aviod are: mushrooms, cheeses, tomatoes, milk, corn syrup,super-sugary treats, pork, beef. I love splenda too, I replace it for sugar all the time.
