Ive bought bran before. It came in a jar and I think it was wheat bran. Your health food store should have it. I also bought oat bran and ate that like hot cereal and also made muffins out of it. I believe I bought both in the health food section of my local Fred Meyers. Dont know if you have one of those in your neck of the woods. You should have someplace that sells health foods. CHeck your phone book. And good luck with it. I hope it helps.

I went to our local health food store and they sold bran in large plastic bags. I was not sure if that was the right kind that is recommend on the Midwest Tapes. I did buy the oat bran, but have not used it yet.

You would think that the people that answer the phones at the Midwest Center would know what all is on the tapes so they could help out people who ask questions about it.

Thanks for your post. I will add a couple of tablespoons of the oat bran to my cereal. I can take all that goes with the panic attacks, but it is the diarehhea that is the problem for me.

NO! NO! NO! Whatever you do, don't buy wheat bran or bran like what you are talking about -- it will make your IBS systems even worse. The "bran" they are talking about on the tapes is actually soluable fibre. There is a difference in soluable fibre (the kind that is good for IBS sufferers) and Insoluable fibre (like whole bran, corn bran--stuff that is considered "ruffage") its a big NO NO if you have IBS. Soluable fibre helps to normalize your bowels wether you suffer from diarrea or constipation.
You want to look for fibre supplements like Metamucil, or Citracel or there is another one called Prodiem that I like. They come in a powder form you mix with water or you can also get chewable tablets.
Hopes this helps...
