First, recognize that you are in a very specific phase in ur life. The constant anxiety and stress and depression response cause ur stomach to get upset. I know that, for me, giving up sugar and caffiene for awhile was truly key. Also, learning to relax and working with teh program skills. All of these things helped, then I went to my doc and got some perscription pills for cramps and I still use them for anxiety-provoking situations. They are called "hyoscyamine". I'm sure there are many brands so get whats best for you from ur doc. Also, increase ur water because that totally helps the digestive process and doesnt cause ur colon to spasm like say a coke or tea. Cheers, Chuckster

Gabby, increase your fiber, like with fibercon , or benefiber or citrecel. Also take a calcium pill everday, preferrably caltrate D. They are finding both of these together help with IBS. I know how frustrating it can be, i thought i had IBS-D but after a colonscopy, it was found i had mircroscopic colitis. I was doing basically the wrong things for mine. And vegetables are good, but certain ones can cause excess gas and upset in your colon, like cabbage or lettuce, etc. if you go to www.healingwell.com they have a whole room of nothing but this, and people who might be able to help you more. Hang in there, it will get better Nelly

I have had IBS for about 11 years- I'm 27 and it feels like I have had every test and tried every medicine known to man. I think that my IBS has kindof gotten alittle better on it's own- and I have figured out what kind of foods bother me. But, something that seems to help alot is an over the counter chewable pill that is called Digestive Advantage- it's made for IBS and I just take one once a day. It really helps bloating, which is one of my major problems. You guys should try it if you haven't already!!

I immediately began getting symptoms of IBS immediately after my gall bladder was removed. I implemented a lot of fiber into my diet and with my anti depressants it has seemed to calm things down but it sometimes seems like there is absolutely nothing I can do when I get in a very stressful or anxiety filled situation I can feel my bowels tightening up. I usually immediately drink a huge glass of water...and honestly, I really think it helps.
