Just got back from a 9 day trip to Europe. Stressed out the whole time as it was a new experience and out of my comfort zone. Felt like I couldn't digest the whole trip...pressure on my upper left stomach area, would move down somedays to mid left area. Made it home after having many concerns about getting on the plane and having a severe attack of pain!! Spent last night in emergency worried about the worst...Have been put on Nexium but have no tests other than blood work to rule out ulcers...Can anyone relate? My stomach pain would get worse every time I had to do something new...Now it feels worse because I worrying about what is causing the pressure/pain. Exercise always helps but don't feel strong enough to get out after 9 days of exhaustion...
Sue, Stomach issues go hand in hand with Anxiety. I have had the same thing forever. I think its all connected. Someone posted an article on here regarding the Vagus nerve, look it up, on the internet, or look for the post, it was very helpful, IF I find it I will pass it on to you. I keep an antigas pill for those sensations. They are real, but harmless for the most part. Gas, and acid reflux can really make you feel like your dying, or at least like something is horribly wrong. Malox, and antigas pills are my friends, lol Take care... Cathy
My stomach/chest area was the first place my anxiety and depression settled. I would get nauseous, appetite loss, stomach and chest pains, burps, acid reflux. I did a chest x-ray, barium test, gall bladder funtion test...nothing! I recall the term, "My stomach is tried up in knots." Well I think this holds true for many anxiety sufferers.
I modified my diet to help reduce the acid... no coffee or colas, no onions, no red meat, no chocolate, no acid producing type foods/drinks like orange juice, fatty, fried foods. Remember... lots of water to flush your system. I was on Nexium, Maalox...I have not taken any of those meds in 3 years! If you do not have the program, look into it as it really is life changing. Take care...LizB

I have a trip coming up in a few days and as a result my stomach has been a complete mess. I have heart burn every single day and night, muscle pain, it's constantly rumbling and I don't have my usual appetite. All I can say is that I know it is anxiety because my mother and sister have suffered the same things as me, and they both have anxiety. I know it's easier said then done to say your mind affects how you feel, but it's true. Don't let your anxiety ruin anymore of your time!
