Hi Steve, You are not alone. IBS can be a devastating condition. I know. I have avoided going places because I was afraid of an attack. I need to know where the bathroom is whenever I go somewhere. I have found that Immodium -advanced (over the counter med) does help the condition. Keep practicing the skills in the program. You will see an improvement overtime. Good Luck.

Just keep taking care of you yourself by relaxing and exercising and working on your thoughts and you will feel better over time. I did. I still have my problems but not like I used to. I mostly flare up whenever I have and appt or have to be somewhere, but that is not all the time either. I get worse when I don't keep up on my exercising and relaxation. When your stomach begins to churn remind yourself that it is the anxiety and it will pass. Learn to underreact to this and the episodes won't be as harsh or last as long. I finally started to gain weight because I was getting an appetite again. Anyways, I hope time will help you feel better. Keep working the program and do it again when you finish. Reena

Man, can I relate! I've been home-bound for months. I don't have any friends. I don't have a girlfriend. I'm afraid to talk to people (even on the phone). I even avoid going to the mailbox. Agoraphobia if I've ever heard of it! As with Lora, I have found that Imodium Advanced has been a blessing. Right now I'm starting a new medicine, Celexa 30mg, and it is giving me fits. IBS to the hilt.
Strangely enough, the events of 11 Sep 2001 have not really negatively affected me. I suppose that I see this as an opportunity for unity and compassion. Just want you to know that you are not alone. Be well! [This message has been edited by CharlestonSC32M (edited 10-04-2001).] |
