well, today is my first smoke free day. just wondering what other IBSers go through when they quit smoking. i am eating fine, not going to the bathroom though, which is worrying me. and, i'm getting alot of gas, and all i'm passing is gassy mucus. ugh, trying to blame this on quitting, but my mind can't help but race.

Today is one week and two days without smoking for me. I'm using Chantix. I haven't had any "bathroom issues" but I've been drinking LOTS of water! I seem to be wanting to eat more than usual. I have been chewing LOTS of gum!!

Get an annual DILATED eye exam!!

Is it the Chantix? My husband is taking that to quit smoking, will ask him if he has had any bathroom issues. But from the stress you just described, it is probably just that!

Sporadic,

I'm on Day 6 of the Chantix but haven't quit smoking yet. If I had to guess what was causing the problem, I would say it was the anxiety associated with not smoking. Do you feel on edge? I wouldn't worry about it too much. So what is a little IBS or constipation if it is going to save your life by not smoking? Hang in there! My official quit day is a week away. I might need you then! Smiler

Do we really have to share bathroom Details? Think of another way to ask for reassurance - go to the doctor...PM someone who you trust and who won't throw up with the details. ?

As for me - I've had enough of excrement details. Thanks for your consideration-c.

I deleted some of the more detailed posts- Good luck to all who are trying to quit smoking! It is the toughest thing I've done...the only reason (other than health reasons) I won't allow myself even one more cigarret-unless it's before the firing squad, is that I know I will go back to my 2 pack chain smoking again and I will never go through quitting again.

You are all younger than me-I tell you honestly, the longer you are addicted the more strongly you are addicted and the harder it is to stop. Stop now-use every help you can afford...I did accupuncture, patches, mind games, hypnotism... accupucture took most of the craving away - of course the trick is to Stay Quit.

Breathe!

I will be thinking of all of you as you Hang In There! Carolyn

you missed nothing. nothing graphic, nothing gross. i said "D and C" not even the full words, and i described having gas, and passing mucus. ya know, IBS symptoms.... i thought this was an IBS section, a place to discuss bowel issues, but apparently, we are a bunch of 10 year olds who have to say "did anyone experience potty issues when they quit smoking?"

so carolyn, maybe instead of just deleting stuff, maybe you should tell me what exactly i said that made you want to throw up. and, how about after you tell me what i said, i'll go find 1000 other posts by other people with the same words, and you can delete all those posts too, k? was is C? are you going to delete every post that mentions C? what about D. was it gas? are you gonna delete every post in the IBS section that mentions gas? so, please let me know what words you found so overly graphic, and i'll help locate every other post in the forum with that word and you can delete every one of those too, ok?

i said GAS for christs sake. its not like i said "well, i was uncontrollably shooting green frothy puss out of my bleed anus and i was wondering if anyone else had that happen." i said gas, mucus, D, and C. nothing graphic, nothing worthy of getting deleted. this is the IBS section, if you can't state your symptoms, then every post will read the same "does anyone else have potty issues?" "does anyone have trouble going number 2?" its stupid, and my stomach is already screwed right now, so i might as well get pissed and shoot some more green frothy mucus out my ass.
