I am desperate now. Lately my IBS is really affecting me. My stomach is now distended and I am gaining weight like crazy. I am not eating any differently and exercising does not help. The weight gain is sudden. Does anyone else get these symptoms and do you have any tips. I have heard that colon cleanses help. Well mainly colonics. What do you think?

Tummytum,
Hi, are you going to a doctor for the IBS? This is something that you should ask your doctor about. They will know what tests to do and how to treat your symptoms. I hope you can relax and calm yourself until you can get an appt. Take care and Hope you feel better soon. "Love yourself first and the rest falls in line." Quote: Lucille Ball |

I agree with cac, got to a gastro doc, make sure of the diagnosis,, seriously.. You dont need to try and diagnos yourself.. They need to rule out any other kind of problems.. I thought i had ibs to, and finally after losing 20 pds i couldnt afford to lose, my husband made me go to gastro doc.. Come to find out i had microscopic colitis... so please have this checked,, take care Nelly |

Hi Tummytum,
The symptoms that you are experiencing sound like you have a CANDIDA problem. I was suffering with IBS for many many years I had gone to my medical doctors, and two gastro. doctors they all told me the same thing. The gastro doctors could not find anything except IBS and they told me I had to live with this problem. I was like you sick and tired of the body symptoms so I went to a nutritional doctor and that is where I found my answer to my problems. I had a severe CANDIDA problem and my bad bacteria was way of of balance. You have to take a bowel test to check for candida (overgrowth of yeast) to really find out if you have it. Then the doctor will put you on a schedule to kill the candida and get your good bacteria back up. You also have to go and stay on a candida diet so you keep it under control. But I would first go to a gastro doctor and see what they tell you. If they find nothing and say your problem is IBS then find a nutritional doctor, take the bowel test and then you will be on the road to recovery. Dona Dry |
