Hi! I'm JCP and am new to the program. I,m having a thorough test tommorow 7/11/07 to see if I have anything more serious going on. I'm sure I don't. However I would like your prayers/positive thoughts for me on Wed.

Thanks,
JCP

There's a test for IBS? I thought it was a proccess of elimination (no pun intended)... they determine it's IBS after they've tested for everything else that could be causing the symptoms. That's what my doctor said. Is she out to lunch?

I've developed a new philosophy... I only dread one day at a time.

BTW, I meant is my doctor out to lunch, not JCP.
(in case there was any confusion)

Oh and welcome Jeannie.

(I'm really slow today)

Brooke and sporadic, She was meaning a colonosocopy. You guys know what she means. She already KNOWs she has IBS she is going in for MORE testing. those are scary. She was just asking for Prayers and positive thoughts. I have had a colo done they are not a picnic. I have IBS too. And I hate it. I dont go to the bathroom unless I medicate. If I skip a day It will take 5 or 6 days to get back on track again. I mean NO BM for 5 or 6 days just for skipping one day of meds. I HATE It!

Thanks Sara'sMom & Sporadic. Yes, it is to rule out anything more serious. I don't think it is. It's just that my other docs didn't know why I was having chronic "D". And GI docs love to do these kinds of tests. I'll do it once, but that's it. Cause now that I've been on the forums a couple of days I see a lot of people with Anxiety have IBS. And my Anx has been higher lately. Smiler

Just take a deep breath Jeannie. You will do fine. I get anxious before tests too. I always make a big deal and it ends up being nothing. YOU will do FINE! I promise. Then you will be through with this and have answers.

Because I have Acid Reflux, they're also doing an endoscopy. That's a tube that goes down your throat all the way into the small intestine. They're really roto-rooting me today. That's why I'm a little freaked. They prpromisedised me I would be sedatated. And lots of people have told me it's a breeze and I'll just sleep thru it (yeah, right). But appreciate your support. Have to do the rest of the prep now. Smiler

I've had an upper GI for ibs. The best I can offer you is the book "What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You About IBS by Richard N. Ash, M.D.

You eliminate your symptoms and live a pain free, drug free life.

I was told my bowel wasn't working right by my gyno. Well, when the test was finished I was told in the hospital "all was ok."

I wish you good health.
