I'm sure there are fellow suffers out there like myself when it comes to constipation. I have had it since the beginning of this year and outside of a upper and lower GI/colon scan i have learned to deal with it. Mostly caused by my anxiety, stress and medicine is what the doctors say and for the most part I believe them. Lately I'll be constipated and then I go 3 or 4 times in a day (with a slight stomache ache) and it's like I have a lot easier time going, then back to constipation. I'm starting to worry that this is really screwed-up and that it could be something more serious. Anyone else get this???

I have experienced your exact symptoms for many years. Diet or exercise haven't helped. In the last year I have been taking a mild colon cleanse that has lessened the problem. Trying to decrease stress has helped also.

Hey ya'll.

Anxiety gave me chronic constipation. I've been going through it for many years and nothing worked......until....*drum roll*....ACTIVIA YOGURT!!!!!!

Really works like a charm. Nothing else worked for me and I started getting scared. I saw a commercial, and I'm back in business!

When i start slacking on my Activia, I notice the difference, because then nothing happens for a long, long time. haha!!

Sorry if I'm being too graphic. Confused Frowner Eeker Cool Frowner Roll Eyes Big Grin

If Activia doesn't work for you, go to a health food store and get yourself some digestive enzymes. That really helped me. As you get older, your body produces less of them. Or sometimes the body just doesn't produce enough on it's own. You also may have food allergies, which can mimic irritable bowel syndrome. For instance, after many years of not knowing; I just found out I have a wheat (gluten) allergy. Since I stopped eating gluten products, my system feels great again! Lots of common food allergies (although people can be allergic to many more) are dairy, eggs, nuts, gluten, tomatoes... so you might check into that too.

Animal products (meat/poultry/fish, dairy products) have no fiber in them, so the less you eat of those and the more plant food you eat, the better for your bowels.

Have fresh fruit smoothies for breakfast, using juice, bananas and unsweetened frozen fruit and blend. After 3 days you will be so regular!

Here's my basic smoothie recipe:

1-2 cups fresh OJ
1-2 ripe, spotted bananas
handful of spinach, optional
handful of frozen fruit like strawberries, mangos, peaches, pineapples etc.

Blend.

It is so tasty, there's no need for dairy in there but if you want, try a little Kefir which is a probiotic liquid yogurt.

This is what they look like. I get one made with coconut milk.

Also working out on a regular basis is vital. Walk, run, do a work-out video, whatever. I jump on a rebounder and it really helps in that area, amongst other areas.
