I have taken Zoloft before and I think it helped. I am back on it again after a year for OCD. Well, after reading articles, I am scared to take it. I read that it can cause mania and psychosis and some people have hurt others while on it. Now, I am scared to take it. Can someone please offer me some advice.

I agree with Bridget. If for some reason you get a side effect it won't be that bad, just cut the dose in half and you should be fine. Better to go slow at first and increase it if you need to. Good luck!

Alicia,

My friend with pure-o was on Zoloft for four years and aside from weight gain he had no problems whatsoever with it.

Best regards.

I have been on zoloft for 3yrs, and never had that affect. The others were right its not good for teens. Beening on it before you should be ok. Sherrylynn

Smiler Hi Alicia. I've been on Zoloft years ago too and it was great. Like Bridgemr said, they have to list all side effects etc... and most side effects that are severe are usually when teenagers take them. If ever in any doubt about your meds, talk to your doctor candidly and he or she will explain in more detail regarding the side effects and concerns. I use to get freaked out too when I read the side effects of anti-depressants, but I've learned that everyone is different, and the doctor knows best who should and shouldn't take certain drugs. All drugs have a long list of posible effects, not just anti-depressants, and you will be fine I'm sure.

Hugs and Peace

Peace

Hello, I agree also cause I'm on it right now. It isn't helping me but it's not hurting me either. If you feel worse then you need to talk to your doctor, but if you feel ok don't worry. Take Care.

Thank you everyone so much for your comments. I read too much and start to get things in my head. I know I would never hurt anyone, but when you start reading that stuff it's hard not to think well what if I could do something like that.
