Hi, Ive been suffering from really bad religious and witchcraft obsessions for about two years. Ive tried many things from going to a priest, psychiatrist, cognitive therapy. Well let me give an example, If Im in a store buying and hear someone or a song say something reated to the subject of witchcraft or devil I freak out think that everything in the store is not infected. Many times the thoughts bother me so much that I wont buy from that store. Ive had many sessions with my psychiatrist and he assures me its OCD. Well it really bothers me know when I see brands of product named after the devil, for example there is a street named Monte Diablo, Diablo means devil in spanish. Also there is natural product used for colds called witch hazel. It bother me when people use sayings such as "the devil is in the detail" or daredevil, even and i know some of you might laugh , the word tazmanian devil aslo bothers me. Well I hope there is someone out there who has had similar obsessions and can offer some advice.
Thank you

Hi member,
I can relate to the things you are talking about.
I used to look down at the odometer in my car, and everytime I looked down at my mileage, I would see a six in it, sometimes three sixes.
I would agree with the doctor. It is obsessive thoughts, even though they are of a spiritual nature. Its common to obsess about anything, from knives to God. Do not be afraid of evil. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can ask God to help you to be free of this fear. God also uses this program to help us.
I understand all the fear you are thinking of.....witchcraft, curses, the devil.....but God is greater than all of that, and He wants us to have peace. Use the program to learn how to deal with these obsessive thoughts, and throw up a little prayer and ask God to help you with your thought life.

Hi,
I went through having the same obsessions that you are having several years ago. It was just like yours, afraid of the number 6, couldn't watch 101 Dalmations because of De Vil, if I saw the word 'demonstration' I freaked out!! I had them every waking minute of every single day for the longest time..and they finally went away after I let them be and accepted them for what they were...thoughts...no truth to them...no power to them...they are just thoughts and every time I would have one I would just say to myself "I'm all right, acknowledge the thought, let it go and go on with life" and after a while it worked and they lost their hold.
We get so sensitized to a phobia that anything that has to do with that phobia becomes something that we are anxious from...like a pebble in a pond, the ripples keep going long after the pebble was dropped.
Lucinda says on the tape about obsessive thinking that it is our way of avoiding something that we need to deal with and I believe that....I didn't want to deal with some family issues that were going on in my life, mabe there is something that you are avoiding and don't realize it...I sure in the heck didn't!!
Please know that you are going to be all right...it seems like it will never end when you are in the middle of it but once you stop thinking about what you are thinking about and stop assigning meaning to the thoughts you will start getting betterSmiler
Take care.
Jodi

Greetings SCM,
Yes, unfortunately I have spoken to different ones that also have similar fears. I'm sorry for what you are going thru because it is indeed torture mentally for you because OCD can include those continious thoughts and fears. My heart and empathy goes out to you. I think that I can help lessen the sting of this discomfort if you want my help. I can show you from the scriptures why ( and how) you do not have to fear such forces or terms. You may E-mail me by looking at my profile.

Wishing you well,
Victoria
