Hello all

Me again!!! Having a really bad week but i think its partly my fault . I ordered a book from amazon about ocd. And at the beginning of the book it states that this book isn't for you if you find the thoughts pleasureable ie sexually arousing.

I am really panicking now i know i don't like the thoughts but sometimes i feel as if i have a tingerling down below. I am so scared and don't know who else to talk to.

I fear now that because i have this tingerling it means i'm a paedophile i hate myself this week i was doiong so well.

Please help!!

xx

Good for you. You're alive!! Don't over analyze. You are normal. You are making the sensations bad. Make them OK to have and they will subside. I understand that this is probably your big fear, and you will need to work through this. You'll have to prove to yourself that you are OK and "normal". Observe the sensations until they pass. You will eventually see that you are OK. Be patient with yourself and continue working the program.

You really are OK.

Not sure what book you ordered but there is a book called Imp of the Mind, in it the author talks about how if you think about the sensation of course you will feel it. Even if your not thinking anything sexual, if you concentrate on that area you will feel a sensation. Kind of like when you hear someone talk about lice, and within minutes you get the sensation that your head itches and you have to reach up and scratch it. Remember, they are thoughts only thoughts, and the fact that it distresses you so much should make you realize that it does not bring you pleasure. Hope this helps in some way.

Hello, out there! Hi,
This is my first day of the program and my first time online. Is this the Peer Support Group? I feel a little panicky about the whole thing but just hope that I am in the right place for Group. AS already mentioned, experiencing different sensations does indicate that we are alive. Now, I am striving to become comfortable (at peace) and healthy in my own skin. We have to keep up the good work. Take care, AKE-G

Dear Boon, Krisse and Ake G

Thank you all so much for your replies made me feel a lot better i tell you what this OCD isn't gonna beat me. I have days where i can be so strong and then other times when i feel that i can't win anymore and that its taken over.

You are all so kind and i don't know what i would do without this website have you all suffered from the same distressing thoughts or a different form. Boon i know yours were similar but everything i'm describing was yours the same?

Mine was different, but you must understand that an obsession is an obsession. It doesn't matter what the content is. You handle it the same way. When you stop resisting, it will cease to be a constant threat for you. You will have no emotional reaction any longer and you'll hear from that particular obession less and less. It will be very easy to dismiss it. Practice allowing the thoughts and the sensations.

Find your funny bone. It's there and lighten up on yourself.

You'll be OK. You can cure from this.
