Hello to each of you...I am truly trying to figure out how to use this chat room, never having used one before. I think I have made some headway today. As I look back throughout my life I realize today I have had anxiety since childhood. Now as a 52 year old woman I have bittersweat emotions due to the years lost but the possibilities that lie ahead. I will be facing a challenge on Thursday, undergoing surgery for Thyroid cancer. Nervous more about the meds than anything else. Well my first big attempt to connect to this community for support. Hope to meet some of you via this new kind of connection.

Mikki,
I'm sending positive energy (prayer) in your direction for your surgery on Thursday. You're doing fine in this forum. The chat room is where you actually type back and forth with the others in the room. I haven't tried this one yet, but I'm sure it's fun. Where you posted this is the forum and we can read it hours/days later after you post it which is an advantage.

So, you didn't really say which meds you're concerned about. Surely the surgery will require something short term to heal, but after that you'll be taking thyroid everyday.

Thyroid is the one med I'm on and have been for years. The cool thing is that the medicine you take is EXACTLY like the thyroid that your body produces. Rather than your thyroid producing it, you're swallowing a tiny pill with just thyroid in it. When I knew that *I* felt much better about it. The natural versions of the pill even just remove thyroid produced in animals, though you're likely to be on the synthetic version. It's not like other types of medicines and is very simple.

I hope this helps you, hon.

Be sure to let us know how it goes!!!

Hugs,

Well, I'm from the November group but wanted to drop a line to say hi and wish you good luck on Thursday. Just remember that medical technology has come a looooong way and that people have successful surgeries every day. Also, don't forget that it is totally natural for you to feel nervous about having surgery.

Thinking of you and wishing you well.
We are here for you!

Best wishes to you! I am a breast cancer survivor and you can do this! I was told, at first, that I had metastatic cancer and not a good outlook. Five years later I am here and cancer free! I am an October starter with generalized anxiety and panic attacks. I have had issues for years!!! I am determined to kick this issue just like the cancer! You are in my thoughts and I am lifting you up!! Diana
